According to the danish newspaper B.T (kind of tabloid, but relatively trustworthy) Kessler (read Palle) didnt ink the miranda deal due to the fact that Kessler has been promised status of official challenger -article doesnt mention to whom. Palle is expecting to start negotiations right away stating "we have to reach an agreement before a certain date, otherwise it will be a purseoffer. I believe though, that the match will be set to a date before midsummer aprox. May or June." The article nor says anything about weight. Any new ideas?
Some other dane just posted that he wants to fight Mundine. Which is not weird at all, but why start negotiating with Miranda, when he knows he is Mundines mandatory(not 100% sure of this, but he outta be)?

The notion that Kessler was in any way shape or form afraid to Miranda was highly dubious to begin with.
The timing from Kessler's team is weird and unprofessional, it seems like they're negotiating with everybody at the same time. I would prefer to see Kessler - Miranda right now, instead of a Mudine rematch, but if Kessler's goal is to stay and clean up the division after Calzaghe, he needs to get his belts back sooner or later...
So would I, who gives a damn about Mundine and his paperbelt. Kessler would gain more respecth beating Miranda imo.
True enough, though I do regard Mundine as the better fighter...Kessler already beat him convincingly enough the first time round.
The whole thing is very simple. I'm not sure what everyone is having trouble with?:huh Kessler wanted to fight in America, against well-known Americans, like Winky, Taylor or Pavlik but none of them wanted to fight him, given the current risk/reward (and lack of belts), with Kessler coming off a loss no less. Showtime, however, decided to give Kessler a shot and picked well-known and highly rated Miranda for the role. Kessler wasn't keen on the idea, but it was the best offer out there for him, so they started negotiations. Then, a couple of days ago, when negotiations were almost over and the deal remained just to be signed, the WBA caved in under much pressure from fans and journalists to rank Kessler in the No. 1 position for a shot at Mundine (he used to be second after Breahmer. Braehmer "decided to be ranked at LHW instead"). The WBA must also have put its foot down to force Mundine to fight Kessler sooner rather than later, given that Mundine had been messing about for ages, not fghting any meaningful fights. He is supposed to have wanted to fight Soliman next, probably as a mandatory too - the WBA must have said: enough is enough - we're turning into a laughing stock and the fans and the commentators have lost all respect for us. So, the WBA must have promised Kessler a shot at Mundine sooner rather than later (i.e. sooner than 6 months or so - otherwise, Kessler would have fought Miranda in the meantime...) Hearing that if he [Kessler] had the option of forcing (throught the WBA) a fight against Mundine sooner rather than later, Kessler must have said: you know what - I'll take the fight against Mundine sooner rather than later and I'll pass on Miranda, because the title is more important to me than becoming better known in the USA, in the short term. The reason he might have said this is: with a title, he thinks his chance of attracting bigger names like Winky, Taylor and Pavlik is greater and beating Mundine rather than Miranda would also prove he is again the man at 168, with Calzaghe out of the picture. Also, it seems Kessler was promissed a fight against Winky if he beats Mundine, afterwards...So, of course, Kessler went for it. The reason Mundine is interested is because he is forced by the WBA to fight Kessler, and because, like Kessler, he will get a shot at Winky if he wins - also, his fans want him to get down to business - no one is prepared to give him any more slack. It's well known that Winky has spoken to both Mundine and Kessler about a possible fight. He seems to have decided to fight the winner. Good for him. So...this is it. What's so complicated?:huh
Mundine was hoping the Soliman fight would get him the US fight but fighting Kessler is even better for him. A win gets him any US fighter in that division and could also open the possibility for a fight against Pavlik as he can easily drop to middleweight. Mundine does not need to be "forced" to fight Kessler, he wants the rematch.
Logic and evidence. Read the threads on ths subject and you will see Kessler mentioning his desire to get a shot at Mundine's title as justification for dropping the Miranda fight. Winky is "the word on the street". Both Australian and some Danish posters have confirmed they've heard/read that Winky was in talks with both Kessler and Mundine. Also, I think I remember Kessler confirming that he has been in talks with Winky and that they're looking at something.:good
