Ah. Now do you see the point? Everyone is calling out Pavlik to fight at 168, not 160. Why would Kessler's people be hoping for the fight? According to Decebel anyhow. It is getting old. And like I said, look at the grief Taylor took for doing it. Why shouldn't Kessler be ridiculed the same if he fought Pavlik? If Kessler can't make 168 he is bigger than Pavlik. End of story.
Calzaghe never said he'd retire only to change his mind... He said last year before the Kessler fight he wants another 3 fights before calling it quits. After Kessler he said he wanted another one or two fights before calling it quits. A couple of days ago he said he wants one more fight after Hopkins and that he'd be out of the game by December. Trust me...he's not going to go on and on...he cares about that "0" more than about money, more than about legacy, more than about recognition in the USA...And he's not going to fight bums after Kessler and Hopkins. One farewell fight either against Woods or against RJJ, and that's it.:hi: He'll be off. I know Danes still hope in a rematch, but it ain't gonna happen, unfortunately. Mikkel needs to build up rivalries against the likes of Bute, Dawson and Pavlik...forget Calzaghe...
I guess on that note then, it's only Calzaghe that's now seeking to be legendary, since Kessler is sitting idle in his same old division and about to re-match with some one he's already defeated??
No top SMW should fight Pavlik until Pavlik becomes established at SMW - a true SMW...not a big MW. That goes for Calzaghe too! Tyson86 is a troll; nothing more.
Well, it is weaker now that he has 'encouraged' JT and EM to move on. If they do well at SMW then Pavlik doesn't have to go there. Until nature catches up with him. But these are the same arguments some people are making about SMW and saying JC should be ranked lower.
It was pretty weak then, it's even weaker now. If he doesn't get more good fights, people will lose interest in him. Which in turn mean less money for him and less chance to become a big name. After Taylor gets split in half at 168, people will finally be aware that a win over Taylor wasn't really a big deal. After Hopkins gets outboxed people will be aware that the circle jerking Taylor-Hopkins, Hopkins-Wright, Tarver-Hopkins, Wright-Taylor was one big fraud show. The only time Calzaghe should have moved up was when Tarver and RJJ were younger and SMW was fairly weak.
He is, umm, blunt. But, I think he makes a lot of good points. The point I brought up indicitive of why the 168 crowd wouldn't like him. He held up a mirror and they didn't like what they saw. :yep None of them will be happy until their particular 168 favorite 'exposes' Pavlik. I'm really shooting for prominence on the troll thread now........:good
Yes, right now he is trying to regain something after he lost everything he had gained after losing to Calzaghe. At least he was legendary enough to: 1) Get each belt save the WBO. 2) Take his mandatory in Mundine on foreign soil. 3) Take undefeated Andrade as his mandatory 4) Try to be the first ever to unify all the belts at SMW. 5) Try to beat undefeated 21 time champ in Calzaghe. His only off-match was beating former champ Eric Lucas, since becoming WC himself. Calzaghe is right now only going for the money.. Facing Hopkins isn't about meeting the best, or establishing that - that has already been done.
Nah, I fought that same battle relentlessly for days after Pav/Taylor II until I just couldn't do it anymore (and Decebal started throwing some sence in the mix). I mean for ****s sake, Pav and Taylor couldn't even make it to their dressing room before there were 20 threads all about: "Oh, yeah!! Well Calzaghe AND (it appears to be important to capitalize the AND!!) Kessler would beat both their asses".:-( It had me wishing like hell they had some fave at 154 to where any time they were mentioned we could be like: "Oh yeah!! Well Pavlik AND Taylor would beat them badly!! JT would UD him WIDE and Pavlik would KO him early!!!" That would be the stuff!
He will get plenty of press dominating MW. It is in the TV folks best interest to package him as great and dominating. He just looks better to the typical person paying for a ticket or tuning in on TV. Able to take on ALL top contenders with ease. They want to be able to pick the winner and feel good about their choice and look like experts. Ever check to see how many folks are logged in here at any one time? Usually no more than a few hundred. I may live in a cave, but I know there is a 'real world' out there. :yep
Pavlik is 25, just won his first world title, and hasn't even made his first defense yet. Let's bring this back up in 3-4 years, shall we??
Sure - but as it is - there isn't an abundance of talent in MW. And people are already riding on his accomblishment of beating Taylor. He can't rest on his laurels, nor can Kessler. Btw wasn't Taylor II a title defence?
Yeah. It gets old. BTW. I was born in Fairmont but grew up in the Ytown area so I know well of that "thundering herd" you speak of.
