The thing that gets me is that Froch seems to rock Kessler's boots just before hand with a punch, then Kessler peddles backward and falls over when Froch hits him on the gloves with a follow up onslaught.

Sure, I have no problem with it being ruled a slip, but in general does it have to be the last punch landed to put the person down for it to be ruled a knockdown?

Anyway, I'm not going to spend the time arguing it wasn't, as I don't feel that strongly about it and think it a "slip" anyway.

Everyone on here is saying that the ref was right to not call the "thing" a KD, but does anyone know what the WBC rules say about what actually constitutes a knockdown. Jon makes a v ery valid point about Froch rattling Kessler just before he fell over, how is this type of thing reflected in the rules.

Also, was open scoring used (I didn't see it) ...WBC rules say that "The scores shall be announced after the conclusion of the bout, and also after the results of the 4th and 8th rounds have been tabulated if approved by the local boxing commission where the bout takes place." If open scoring wasn't in place why do you think that the local boxing commission objected? No conspiracy theory, just interested.
