It seems the keyboard crew are out again everywhere, alot of casuals and sky probably now think ortiz is rubbish after that fight really when it all it come's down to is style, the only criticism of ortiz is probably he needs to mix up his attacks from time to time and press the fight, it is hard though when the guy your fighting has come to survive does anyone though feel conned by scott? he talked a big game but when it came down to it it looked like he made a fool of everyone and had no intention of winning There's actually casuals who after this fight have said dillian whyte would beat ortiz and so would chisora LMAOOO and I saw another troll account say ortiz wouldn't even stop lewison the last guy whyte fought lol hopefully now this will entice the others to fight ortiz, but really if you knew boxing and had seen ortiz vs thompson this fight was no different, because of styles ortiz vs joshua or wilder would be a totally different fight is ortiz naturally a counter puncher? maybe that's why when he's chasing the fight he doesn't let his hands go that often, I think his footwork is fine because he was able to close scott to the ropes alot and was cornering him well, it's just at times it looked like scott knew what ortiz was going to throw like ortiz was winding up on the big shot every time Still think ortiz has the tools to beat them all it's a case of styles and he won every round
I am not an Ortiz fan and have never really thought much about him, but what I would say having been on ESB for a while and stating it time and time again is that not all fights are the same and what happens in one doesnt mean the same thing would happen if they fought a different fighter. For example Hopkins was knocked down twice by Pascal in the first fight and I guess if Hopkins hadnt of fought the rematch and retired there would be people saying he was lucky and would be stopped in a rematch but that isnt/wasnt the case. Hopkins didnt get put down in the rematch and fought well in the return. Ortiz has come over to Europe and mainly the UK. In the UK alone the HW division is very talented and Ortiz would possibly go further with easier fights against named fighters than the tough unknown under appreciated fighters in the UK. My UK HW top 5 would be tough for Ortiz in Fury, Joshua, Haye, Chisora, Whyte let alone H Fury and Price. Im not saying Ortiz couldnt win some of those but it will be tough for him. If he was in America several of these fighters will have been in tough battles against each other and he would be able to pick them off after when they are not the same. The HW division is so much tougher with what is expected in the UK/Europe, in my opinion
Not easy to knock someone out running backwards all night. Ortiz is a solid fighter and is a handful for anyone right now.
yeh your right, but not for the casuals anymore, even chisora beats ortiz now according to the casuals, ortiz has his flaws but he probably still beats any other heavyweight
Ortiz looked garbage. Not an AJ fan but imagine what he does with Scott. 37 years of age too. Hearn signed a duffer in Ortiz and will give him a couple of fights before feeding him to AJ.
what do u know? ur just a keyboard warrior like the rest, seen your other thread, u casuals opinions change like the wind!
He showed some limitations, perhaps, but to be fair Scott boxed like a big gay. He is still a force and has the tools to give most in the division a real run for their money.
This. Pac couldn't knockout Mosley when he went into survival mode. When Bonecrusher kept running and hugging even Prime Mike Tyson couldn't get the knockout. Anybody that shows up to actually win has a tough fight on their hands.
Yes, that's just funny how they say that Chisora and Whyte are somehow better than Ortiz. I have little doubt that 2015 version of Jennings (Ortiz' victim) beats today's Whyte and Chisora. Tony Thompson could do it, too. Whyte and Chisora are both plodders with poor footwork and average speed and punching power. And they don't (and can't) run like Scott, so Ortiz can find their chins often enough with clean shots to score a KO.
Yes some people have gone over the top with the criticism. I said before Scott's movement could pose him problems and that turned out to be true but I still think he's a serious contender and would beat a lot of guys out there based on styles. Chisora would get hammered, Whyte would get battered, Povetkin would have his hands full, Pulev would get mauled etc. Just because Ortiz showed limitations in regards to facing a moving target doesn't mean he still can't chew up and spit out the majority of fighters that would stand in front of him.
Ortiz is limited. Just nothing special at all. Would have been another so called bum if he had fought a prime Wlad.
Actually he ran for about four rounds. He used some lateral movement and angles after that but often set up on the ropes right in front of Ortiz. He didn't commit, he didn't leave himself open and he fought a defensive, negative fight, but he wasn't doing a roadrunner for 12 rounds. If Ortiz cut off the ring and applied himself to body work from the start he probably could have chopped Scott down, but he didn't. Every fight is a puzzle to solve. Ortiz could have pressed the matter and given himself a chance to look better, but he was content to take the low-hanging fruit and coast. Nothing wrong with that. And depending on styles he is a difficult proposition for most guys out there, but it's not improper to point out that he failed to apply himself in this spot.
Scott took a massive dump on his own reputation IMO He looked like a guy just attempting to say, "Hey I went 12 rounds with King Kong" Sure Ortiz looked limited with his style but look at who he was dealing with as Scott stunk out the whole FKN fight
Ortiz showed what he really is, he is not an initiator he will wait for the person to throw and counter off that so with that in mind I would pick over Aj and Wilder but Tyson Fury would beat him I think because he showed in the vlad style he can make himself awkward and be as sudden as Scott was in parts of the fight. He's still an excellent boxer but suffers from the same style as Rigo when there opponent doesnt throw they will make him look like crap.
