Your spot on with everything you said, if ortiz just worked the body and threw a few more combos he could have forced Scott to either throw or quit but he just couldn't pull the trigger for some reason, it reminded me of Vlad-Fury sometimes when Vlad would get Fury on the ropes but not throw anything after.
Yes, the fanboy set goes overboard with the criticisms of Ortiz, but they do for other fighters as well so I don't have much sympathy. Goes with the territory and no fighter is perfect.
Most of the members here are really just casuals who like to hear hype so thats why we get so many "xxx is crap" "over rated bum" threads. Ortiz pretty much could only do what he did given Scott had no intention of making it a fight. Scott's priority was to get paid with out taking any damage and once he realised that the ref was not going to let him do his usually scuba tricks (Make the Dontay win even more sus given what happened v Ortiz) he ran for a while then realised that Ortiz wasn't this all powerful god and settled into a very defensive protective show... Pretty sad really..
