I was really pleased with his performance against Abraham. I predicted a UD simply because I had faith that Froch could deliver that type of performance. Excellent boxing skills to match his warrior spirit. I think he has a great chance of winning the entire Super 6 now because I'm not sure if Ward, his biggest threat, can handle what he brings. He's certainly the toughest opponent Ward will have fought yet, so it will be intriguing. As long as the fight isn't in America, which would be an absolute travesty and disgrace, it should be very compelling. The only problem for Froch, is that because people constantly underrate him and expect him to get beaten up, every win gets less credit than it deserves. Before the Abraham fight, the majority were saying Abraham wouldn't just beat him, but knock him out. Then Froch goes out and schools Abraham, doing a better job than Dirrell did, and then the talk is about how Abraham is beatable and easy to figure out. Why? Because if that was the case and Abraham was so easily beatable, why did these people pick him to knock Froch out? Because they can't understand what makes Froch such a good fighter and rather than say "I was wrong, well done Froch" it has to be about why these fighters lost to such a bad fighter. With Pascal he was supposedly drained, yet he himself takes nothing away from Froch. Taylor was supposed to be shot, yet everyone knows he wasn't even for most of the fight against Abraham. Dirrell was supposedly robbed, yet every journalist in the arena and two judges gave the fight to Froch. Kessler was supposed to batter Froch and it was a close decision loss. Finally, as I said, Abraham was supposed to knock Froch out but instead got schooled. Until people can understand why Froch is such an effective, excellent fighter, this will continue to happen. If he beats Johnson, it will be because Johnson is old. If he beats Ward, it will be because Ward has one good win when he gave more head than a crackhead hooker. But people can continue to underrate him and in a few years, they're going to look at his recrod and it will tell the true story. It already does but I'm sure Froch will add to it. Not one fighter in boxing, is fighting and beating the opposition that Froch is and yet he still isn't on any P4P lists or getting the credit he deserves. I just hope that before he retires, people realise what a true champion he is.
Excellent post, but to be fair, I noticed plenty of posters who WERE man enough to admit they were wildy wrong and gave Carl heaps of credit for the way he tamed the monster who was almost guaranteed to knock him out. But yes, there are always the idiots( and we all know who they are) who will always make utter fools of themselves by predicting one thing with relish, and yet when the complete opposite happens, they show their own weakness by then attempting to discredit the man they were convinced was going to win in the first place!! :think Furthermore, the more successful a fighter becomes the more 'haters' he gathers. In recent years the three most successful fighters in boxing are Mayweather,Pacman, and Calzaghe, and it's no coincidence that those three have the most rubbish spouted about them on this forum. So the way I see it, the more haters that Carl attracts, the better he's doing:happy
This :deal There were very few of us in Froch's camp pre-Abraham. Froch’s sequence of fights up until Saturday should go down as one of the most gruelling in British boxing history. Amidst a wider boxing scene that has recently permitted farcical no-contests such as Haye-Harrison, Froch's attitude should be embraced by boxing fans. Instead, many would rather deride him for his style (or lack thereof). He may throw cartoon-style ugly shots, but he proved to a few people against Arthur that he can box, not to mention he has heart in spades and an insatiable appetite for a scrap. The longer these Anglophobes write him off, the longer he can continue proving them wrong.
It's nothing to do with Froch being English, as to why people dislike him. People dislike him due to his attitude, and his arrogance. But fair play to him, he stuck to his game plan against Abraham and gave him a Boxing lesson. I myself didn't think he would be able to stick to a game plan due to his fondness of a ''tear up''. But he deserves respect for what he did to Abraham. However people shouldn't get too carried away, after all Abraham seemed like he didn't want to be in there, and seemed to have given up after the early rounds. He had no urgency in the late rounds, or even in the 12th.
I have to admit, I like Froch but I really did underestimate his skills. He just seems like such a raw fighter sometimes. I haven't watched the Abraham fight yet though since I was watching the Marquez fight. I'll definitely look for that fight and see if it changes my perception.
agreed. froch is a limited fighter and he is on borrowed time, but he's seizing the moment and making the best of what he's got. he deserves respect.
yes he did win fair & square...:goodwith the help of his promoters judges:hey lets hope there is a kessler v froch 2 with proper judges...:hey
This is exactly the sort of post the TS is talking about, from what I can gather. People are compelled to praise Froch because of how convincing his win was, but do so with qualifying statements. In this scenario, it is that Abraham didn't want to be there. It can't possibly of been that Froch proved himself superior... No, Abraham must not of been motivated.
:|:|:|:|:|:|:| Keep crying bitches, Kessler won his fight against Froch, I had it 115-113 close but clear. Froch did beat Dirrell though.
Yeah, that's right. Rather than say Froch outboxed him far more easily than the, supposedly, super talented Dirrell, it has to be followed by an excuse. "Froch did well, but..." all the time. Abraham didn't do a ****ing thing because he got schooled and any time he rallied and threw combinations, Froch threw them back but landed more and hit him harder. That's why Abraham did nothing, because Froch completely outclassed him in all areas.
I picked Abraham for the KO, I knew Froch had the ability to do what he did but I didn't think he would be able to resist a tear up and that's where I saw him getting caught by the Abrahammer, but clearly I was wrong.
