Obviously I want Benn to beat Vargas, but the hype I do not understand. In my opinion he's British level at best. He's been carefully matched, and if he fought Mckinson, Mikey would outbox him. To be fair to him though he is well known by the casuals.
Second he fights even a moderate puncher he’s ****ed. second he fights a slick boxer he will be out boxed. Only way you could have him headline a ppv is it you matched him like a yarde with a cash out fight as the ppv event. I don’t think benn will even make it to fringe world level with the amount of prospects there are at welterweight let alone mentioning the champions and fringe world level welterweights there are.
I've been very impressed with the improvements Benn has made, some of which are massive. He clearly dedicates himself to working on his game so I don't think there's too much of a ceiling to what he can achieve if he's (continued to be) matched right. I just wish these promoters would moderate their hopes on fighters like him and the other lad Hatton. It turns genuine boxing fans against them because they judge on the substance rather than the hype that draws the casual audience in.
Painfully predictable and anyone who knows how Eddie's mind works should have seen it coming a mile off. A real shame because I genuinely like Conor Benn, he's a face first give one to take one brawler who is dedicated to boxing and constantly improving also clearly idolises his old man, nothing wrong with that !! But if Conor beats Vargas impressively any future fights against opponents with even the slightest name recognition then it's going to be on PPV perhaps as a co main event to start with alongside Del or similar, if he progresses to Euro or fringe world level then it's going to be a PPV main event. Cheers Eddie
Yeah, Connors first few fights i thought it was a joke but he has really come on you have to give him credit. How far do you think he can go? 147 is a tough division, with talent always breaking through.
Not the next world champion or the next best thing... the next PPV star. This is where we’re at. Being a ‘PPV star’ is more important than winning belts apparently.
Shows the ridiculous state of the game when people are being successfully brainwashed into believing that boxing being on PPV is a good thing!
