I can't wait for HBO to do a Legendary Nights special on Wlad vs Ibragimov

I never thought in a million years that I would miss Lennox Lewis when he was gone, but I do. I suspect I'll miss the Klits a bit too once they both retire.

Didn't they do a 'jab and grab' special edition Legendary Nights for Ali - Chuvulo I? :deal

Of course these champs fought plenty of bums, but they also had career defining wins as well. Louis over Schmeling, Marciano over Walcott, Charles and Moore, Holmes over the likes of Norton and Shavers. Great fights I can still enjoy watching!
Furthermore, an olympic gold medalist making his pro debut is still a better opponent than Ray Austin, or shot to ****, blown up LHW Mormeck.

Accept that this era is absolutely awful. Vitali is defending his WBC belt no problem at 41 years old. When he was at his absolute prime, he was mauled and stopped in 6 rounds by an overweight, shot Lennox Lewis. That gives you an idea of how good the brothers are, and how good their era is.

I've thought about this and it may be true. Or maybe not.

The division is pathetic at the moment, barring the brothers, but in years to come these same slow, fat plodders might be claiming a portion of the title. That's a scary thought.

Then again, things in life are usually cyclical. Maybe the next era will see the standard of the division being raised again. Doubtful, but who knows?

He looks positively svelt there, compared to some porkers who are around now.

Just because Louis had fights with Schmeling amongst a collection of bus drivers and circus acts doesn't make his era better than the last 10 years of HW boxing. What on earth are you smoking.

I accept the argument that there are few 'highlight' fights during the last 10 years. Lewis - Klitschko was probably the last big one that will have people talk about for decades to come. That doesn't mean the era is the worst ever in quality though. Two different things.

You're confusing 'momorable' and 'exciting' with quality, depth and talent.

Remember that stretch of months after Vitali retired and Wlad got the living **** knocked out of him by Brewster?

You had a circle jerk of B level fighters in Ibragimov, Brewster, Briggs, Byrd, Rahman, Maskaev and Liakovich getting their hands on titles and then losing them again right in the next fight.

That was neither 'exciting' nor was it 'good for HW boxing'. It was terrible.

It was so **** that almost everyone forgot it. The Klitschkos are on a whole another level.

They're a level above the sub-standard fighters that occupy the top 10 right now. However, don't make them out to be better than they are.

Awful thing to say about a great fighter...more respect, remember the gladiators of Rome were built like that to avoid being mortally wounded, apparently the layer of fat protected some of the vital organs.

    :huh

I just said they are levels above the Top10 of this era and could hold their own in any era in heavyweight history.

True. And I am sure future generations will look at this period with admiration.

Stories about how Vitaly has never lost a fight except for injury. And has never ever been behind in any fight against any fighter. Has the highest KO percentage in history. And how he went into politics only to come back and, without any warm-up and old, beat the reigning world champion clearly.
