Does this mean the heavyweight division could be getting more coverage? There was an actual article inside the sports section and not a small few lines story. No pictures or the article being on the cover but the fact that it was in the paper surprised me a little considering Klitschko's popularity here in the US. But it was for the Heavyweight world title afterall.
And the mainstream doesn't seem to like him much. Any time I hear him mentioned on ESPN they always describe him as a big dull bore.
^A guy told me WK is too boring of a fighter to get America back into boxing. Well it took the American forever just to embrace Lennox Lewis, and it doesnt look like itll happen for Klitschko.
yes, I'm Melbourne Australia and the fight was broadcast on free to air television here! Telecast started at 4:am included undercards also..
Yeah, Vlad is so boring that he has 45 knockouts!!!!!!! KlitschkoooooOoooooOOooOOooOooOoooOOOOOO!!!!!!!
I think it's more because Wladimir isnt the go-to-war blood and guts type fighter or one of the Tyson type fighters that Americans dont seem to accept him.
Exactly, it also doesnt help that his personality is quite boring, and his mic skills are weak to say the least. I dont feel Wlad will ever be able to hype a fight the way other, more vocal Heavyweights were able to do. To make matters even worse, Wlads become a more boring and less offensively minded fighter with the help of Manny, which doesnt bode to well for him when it comes to fight fans.
I also noticed it was covered on the radio, as well as on the Yahoo.com main page, as well. Seems like the division is gaining ground, yes. :good
