I agree with Jack on this one.

If you hold an alphabetty belt, then you are a title holder, not a World Champion. You have a piece of the Championship pie.

Only way you can legitmately call yourself the "Heavyweight Champion of the World" is if you're undisputed.

This goes for all weight divisions, IMO, title holders are not World Champions.

Im sorry there is no real champion until the belts are unified period, all we can hope for is haye to crack wlad on the chin and then he can fight vitali and thenwe will be nearly there :good

Whats wrong with being Klitschko fans, if Wlad fought like his brother looking the way he does the Heavywieght divison would be back on top in the sport of boxing.

Vitali is the best in the divison, no one at heavy can beat him IMO and since the brothers will never fight each other they are the 2 headed champions of heavywieght divison.

Jack, this is the best thread you have ever started. I congratulate you. He's right, we have no world champion at the moment, just title holders. I do recognise the Klitschko's as one and two though.

Oh so you're going that whole linear angle huh?

So if there is a sanctioning body in boxing that awards a major belt than they have the right to name a champion; is that what I'm getting from this?

Because you are saying that a fighter has to grab all the titles if the chain is broken, right?

The chain was broken when Spinks was stripped of the WBA so Larry eventually beat Spinks, Norton, and Ali, but what about all of the other contenders?

John Tate, Mike Dokes, Gerrie Coetzee, and Greg Page all have a right to be World Champions then.

No, the same Rahman that beat the **** out of James Toney and had enough energy to dance and smile in the 12th round (as did Peter against James).

The same Rahman who was beating James Toney before the injury happened.

:rofl:rofl:rofl:nutWow. You havent had the same ability to analyze fights since the lobotomy.........

"Rahman, do you want to continue?"

    Rahman............"I can't see"

Official..........."That wasnt the question, bonehead. DO...YOU....WANT...TO....CON-TIN-UE?" (Spoken slowly so he could understand)

    Rahman....."Er, uh, I can't see"

And that was the "No Mas" of 2008, until the 9th of Manny Pac-Panties on December 6th.

This is the only sensible opinion to have on this subject.

The difference between a title holder, and a world champion is huge.

Wlad is a title holder, Lennox Lewis was a World Champion.

Valuev is a title holder, Mike Tyson was a World Champion.

The sooner this becomes the established opinion, the better for boxing.

Ruslan Chagaev is one of the most underrated contenders in the division. In the amateurs he beat the great Felix Savon twice, albeit they stripped him of his second victory. Chagaev can box and he has more than enough ability to beat the Klitschkos. You may have noticed that the Klitschkos haven't been lining up to fight him.
