The Klitschkos are probaby "Not" the best HWs in the world.

AS i HAVE POSTED BEFORE, THE BROTHERS ARE ALMOST VILIFIED FOR BEING CIVILISED, INTELLIGENT AND RESPECTFUL SPORTSMEN. IN THE "RED LIGHT DISTRICT" OF SPORT WHICH IS BOXING THEY ARE A BREATH OF FRESH AIR. NO TRASH TALKING, NO CRIMINAL RECORDS, MAKES THEM ALMOST BORING FOR SOME. THEY LET THEIR FISTS DO THE TALKING AND ANOMILIES THAT THEY ARE SHOULD BE RESPECTED FOR THIS ABOVE AND BEYOND THEIR BOXING ACHIEVEMENTS.

 

Mike Tyson said it best when asked, "what happened to the great American heavyweights?"..to which he replied, "they've probably all been beaten by the Klitschkos"

The OP might be right, it's not that the athletes aren't there, or that the conditions or climate these past great American heavies were bred from has changed too much.

What has changed in recent times is these well schooled eastern european fighters from these great systems have finally been given a chance in the pro ranks and they've had the most success in the heavyweight divisions, which historically has been the playground of the biggest and the baddest and not necessarily the most skilled American athletes.

 

Did Vitali gets nominated to respectful sportsman by bullying fighters at press conferences, trying to kick opponents during boxing matches, threatening opponents after losing a match and trying to attack triumphant warrior, during his victory celebration, because his brother lost the match?

 

The K-brothers are THE BEST out there at 200+ pounds in 2011 without doubt.... It's not even close....

He did start it with Corries by attacking in the ring and with Lewis trying to kick him durring boxing match. Also he cant take defeat like a true sportsman.

Face it he is nowhere near being a respectful gentleman sportsman.

Hes brother is a respectfull sportsman but Vitali aint.

V.K. is now aging and prolly slipping a tad, yet you'd never know it by viewing the tape against Odlainer Solis last March.... BUT! Even at age 40 it is clear V.K. is an ATG champion... He cannot do anything about the modern state of the division, but he's cleaned house with everyone he's fought since Dec. 2003....

Agree absolutely, but no one more than me would like to see more heavyweight competition coming out of the usa, but something has happened there, they are unfit and limited in skill, basically club fighters.

 

Lennox Lewis did say the hardest fight of his career was against Željko Mavrović.

 

I THINK THE DIFFERENCE IS THAT THE STRAIGHT BACK EUROS ARE TECHNICALLY MUCH MORE PROFICIENT, AFTER ALL BOXING IS A SCIENCE, THERE APPEARS TO BE PREOCCUPATION IN OTHER AREAS WITH FLASHY SHOWBOATING AT THE EXPENSE OF THE BASIC ASPECTS OF THE SPORT. hUGELY TALENTED FIGHTERS CAN DO WHAT EVER THEY WANT BUT PRETENDERS ARE TECHNICALLY EXPOSED.
