I thought the modern heavyweight scene was awful until recently when a similar topic appeared in another thread and I actually looked into it in quite some detail. In doing so you realise that the standard of boxer that would make it into the top ten in previous eras is far inferior to the current top ten.
Most posters on this forum agree that the 90s was the era with the most depth (although some lean more towards the 70s) everyone at the time thought the current heavyweights were crap and nowhere near as good as the past.
The same with Ali, people thought he was inferior to the previous greats.
People always think that the current era is crap, and will always do that until its looked at fairly and objectively.


Also, I think that I have posted a similar point of view in maybe 3 threads now, so I feel saying going around everywhere may an exaggeration.
