You mean a bigger joke than beating a 9 year older 213 lbs shot fighter? (Marciano vs Louis, Marciano's ONLY notable win against an 200+ opponent). Or even a bigger joke than fighting a 10 year old 58-40-10 bum in a world heavyweight fight? (Joe Louis vs Jack Roper) Or a bigger joke than boxing a 7-8 bum who started at 147 lbs (Lennox vs Davis). Or even a bigger joke than beating a 45-year-old who started at 145 lbs? (Ali vs Archie Moore, actually 47 years old since Moore lied about his age). When Wlad vs Povetkin got cancelled (Povetkin injured) Wlad chose the HIGHEST ranked and AVAILABE fighter instead of cancelling a fight. Try harder next time, CanadainHater.
Amazing how you bash the Klitschkos for being boring but you hope the never exciting Gomez beats the very exciting Vitali..............:rofl:rofl:rofl Don't let the hate consume you. :good
It's like I said in the other thread, they have selective memory. They all forget how Tyson made his legacy against boxers I never even heard of until he fought them. They talk about how nobody beats Mike in his prime but they forget that Douglas beating. How about Larry Holmes defending the HW championship of the World against Tex Cobb, a fighter that couldn't possibly be ranked in the top 50. :rofl But hey, Larry's great don't bash Larry...................he's a legend.
He didn't. Per punchstats he connected with 9 punches, of which in my view 8 were crap. I just rewatched the 3rd round. Brewster gets battered... check Brewster wobbles... check Brewster has to eat loads of heavy punches... check Brewster manages to hit Wlad in his face ONCE... check Are you claiming because of this 1 punch Wlad will collapse 2 rounds LATER? Lederman is a Wlad hater. Because of 1 punch you cannot give a round to a fighter who is otherwise dominated (and gets floored in the next round by the way). Here is the comment of Larry Merchant about Lederman's (doubtful) giving the round to Brewster: "Well, at last I found someone to disagree with as much as I used to disagree with George Foreman: One punch does not a round make when you get hit so many punches in return." I agree with Larry and I disagree with Lederman. The win of Brewster over Wlad is a freakish result, including Wlad's shifted pupils, a near-coma sugar blood level and the inability to warm-up properly before the fight (as the co-trainer Sdunek said). Moreover, as I already wrote: It's avenged. Look, noone is doubting that Wlad ran out of gas against Ross. After that fight Wlad said "Thank you, Ross, I need to do my conditioning harder"... and this is why he wins now. How does that prove lack of toughness?
I'm glad you took the time out to watch the fight again, I have watched it at least 30 times already since April of 04 when it took place. If you watch the fight, Brewster landed alot of good body shots early in the fight, so much so that RJJ and Merchant both commented on it, and Wlad being 6'6 and half 245 pounds, it can certainly take alot of a fighter his size. And as far as the 3rd round is concerned, it is at least debatable, because while Wlad landed more punches in that round, Brewster was able to rock Wlad badly with a jab, it looked like his legs went from under him, which caused RJJ to laugh about how weak Wlad's chin is. As far as Wlad being in a near coma, get real Knn, if that was the case theirs no way in hell Wlad's team would let him fight that night. Wlad seemed more than fine when in the first few the first 4 rounds he was throwing loads of punches and connecting at over 50%. I do believe Wlad got tired because he wasnt fighting at a measured pace for a man his size, he was throwing way to many power punches, and when he seen Brewster was still standing after landing his best shots, thats when his confidence went down and Brewster was able to land his punches on the tired and discouraged Wlad. Toughness is within, it's the ability to fight through tough situations and find away to come out on top. Their have been plenty fighters in the past that have gassed out in fights and still managed to fight on, Wlad got tired and didnt know what to do, and he faltered in the face of danger. Dont get me wrong, Wlad's a very tough guy, you have to be, to get to the top as he has, but when compared to the greats and the champions that came before him, he is one of the least mentally tough heavyweight champs I have ever seen.
