scoring is always on a 10 point must. the only way for a 9-9 round is when the boxer who is winning a round is has a point taken away by the referee.
a KD should account for a 1 point loss and should be taken at the end of the round so if the 3 judges score 10-9 then yes would be 10-8 if they score 10-10 would be a 10-9 and if they score a 9-10 would be a 9-9
Personally if anything I think a knockdown should get 10 - 7 rather then go 10 -9. Effective hurtful punches must be encouraged; not fake ones. It's not a game of who can touch the other mans face the most.
Im pretty suire if you dominate a round but suffer KD, the round is scored something like 10-9 instead of 10-8...?
I agree with what the OP is sayin, depending on how the round is going a KD can be worth 2 or 3 points. Judges shouldn't be afraid to not automatically score a round with a knockdown in 10-8.
One thing that really pisses me off about scoring is that judges are so reticent to call rounds even. Hugely lopses rounds get scored the same as rounds where there is fu#k all difference.
A knockdown should simply be a point off. If you are losing a round and are KD'd, it should be 10-8 If you are winning a round and are KD'd, it should be 9-9 If you are losing a round big and are KD'd, it should be 10-7
Surely getting a knockdown is one of the harder things to do, and in a way the bullseye of boxing - and therefore should be awarded accordingly.
