Just curious about what's the general consensus, if there is one, on Larry Merchat... Do you love him? Hate him? I think he's awesome... He (usually) has the guts of telling it how it is and is often spot on with his remarks... Always greatly enjoy his comments. And man, he brought Mayweather to tears and almost made him retire! How cool is that! :thumbsup This content is protected
My fav commentator ever. Never afraid to ask the tough questions and always tells it like it is, the only people that have a problem with him are the butthurt schoolgirls that cant accept when someones criticizes the fighter they have a crush for.
He's a legend, how many ring invaders have Kellerman or Lampley dealt with in such an agressive manner?................. ...........exactly
He's awesome. The man has balls, unlike that *** Kellerman. While he may be getting a little goofy with old age, he does still make you laugh with his commentary and interviews. I hope HBO keeps him til he dies.
i like him he says things that upsets alot of people which i love even more roy jones: larry you dont know because you've never boxed before Larry Merchant: roy we can disagree without pulling rank also during hopkins vs tarver... Merchant: wake me up when something happens Lampley: there's a fight in the stands Merchant: now i'm awak
Like I said watch Hopkins vs Tarver and I cant see how you can admire the man. Hopkins puts on a masterclass against the number 1 lightheavy in the world.
Also the people who are big fans of technical fighters as I don't like RJJ and like Floyd and Hop the same as i like Pacman and Katsidis. I think Merchant is the fanboy. He has to have blood and guts to commentate. He never says anything too much of substance, and whenever fighters commentate with and talk strategy or what could be going on in the minds of the fighters Larry always sees it as pulling rank. Roy and George have both make great points that I hadn't thought about and would like to be elaborated on and Larry dismissed. Larry seemed better pre 2000
He's was good, but recently he just sounds bitter and talking boxing is about the last thing he wants to do.
