That was pretty ****ed up! Couldn't tell if he decked him or just shoved him but that menacing look on his face...:fire HAHAHAHAH!! Larry's gonna get that interview!
Yeah I couldnt tell if it was a punch or a grab push, but he got that off pretty quick. The guy that does the interviews for showtime Jim Gray, that dude is always getting pushed around and punked out. If you go on you tube you can probably see the time James Toney smacked the mike out of his hands, and Jim gray went to grab the mike off the ground and James Toney went to go after him.
"Fernando Vargas has bitten off more than he can chew... in the opinion of many... but he has chewed it, and he has to chew it some more in this final round to pull it out." - Larry Merchant This content is protected
"Maybe he won't look like a guy who's been eating too many of those airplane cinnamon buns..." Larry Merchant commenting on Oscar De La Hoya, hoping he comes to the ring in better shape come September 18th when he meets Bernard Hopkins.
Here a few ones i picked up on various sites. -"Peter comes from the old school of swing in case you hit something" -"You should thank the judges as well" (Forrest/Quartey fight) -"Klitschko seems so perfect, I wonder what what's wrong with him" And then after Sanders KOd him "Well, I guess we found out what was wrong with him." -"Castillo used his hands more when he was making his way from Cuba to Florida" -"naz says that when he fights he has music in his head...whatever it is, i dont wanna hear it" -When Christy martin was fighting someone, can't remember whom..But George Foreman said "She is like a Raging Bull" and Merchant said "U mean a Raging Cow George"
I love to hear Steve Albert roaring in Showtime and think Lampley is just a poor replica on HBO. Jim Gray is classy of course and has something like an awkward interviewing history with Iron Mike, I wouldn't have had the guts to go to the locker room and ask Mike to adress it after that fight! Concerning Merchant, the guy is just too much, I mean, either way, is he too Goddamn cynical and is aware of it or is he so naive that he gat to ask all those "unpleasant" questions ? - Lampley to Toney post-Roy Jones Jr fight ( with an arm around Toney's shoulders), something like this: " James, being so much time undefeated, what does it mean for you to be mastered in this way?":yep ... Man, U know I luv Ya, Larry.
Describing Lacy Vs. Calzaghe: "he had a Michael Richards kind of bad day" "Marquez may need some surgery on his offense..." about Raul Marquez
Its seems to me Larry gets more respect than Gray even while asking just as idiotic questions to fighters, do you remember when Gray got the mic hit out of his hand by James Toney, that was some funny ****. I personally hate Jim Gray, hes a ***** compared to Merchant. He always looks so scared doing interviews with boxers, watch his eyes when he was getting bumped from behind when he was doing an interview for the Mccline/Peter fight, he looked scared as hell.
"Not only boxing, but the world would be better off if every division had a Manny Pacquiao. We would have peace in the middle east, and global warming would cool off."-Larry Merchant on Manny Pacquiao
