The last American Heavyweight Champion

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by Earl-hickey, Feb 26, 2012.

  1. First of all,Seth Mitchell will be the champion very soon. Second of all,Monte Barett is a heavyweight champion right now after his win over Tua.

99% of all lineal HW champs were American. The HW division has always and will always be ours. How many British lineal champs? Oh right, only 1. How many Germans,1.
Seth will be the champ very very soon and the Europeans raping the life out of the division will soon be over. Europe and their boring no heart no style glass chinned boring fighters gone again.

    no he wasnt

    he won a title .

a title that was invented after there were 3 already :-(

the IBO is a sanctioning body, so is the WBF, you can invent one if you wanted to , its just a business..... because they say something is for the championship of the world, dont believe it....

At the age of almost 30 and he hasn't fought a single decent opponent?

He better hurry it up if he wants to be an atg, by his age Wlad had 9 world title defences to his name.

As soon as Mitchell steps up to european level, he will get stopped.

The Yanks got nobody, Mitchell and Bum Wilder, thats it.

All the best prospects are Euro, and all the best olympians from the class of 2012 will be euro too..

    America's reign is over.

Europe is the new Mecca of boxing

The truth is 8 out of 10 fighters in the top 10 are from eastern europe. Americans have never faced that kind of competition before and now they are struggling.

Too many Americans are staying amateur past point where they should be turning pro, hoping for Olympic medal money. Even being a top amateur can lead to big contract.
They get used to that style, and turn pro too late. Also are not as hungry, since they already get money up front, with a contract.

If an American heavyweight comes along, it will be some guy who turns pro young for the money, perhaps even one who grow into it as pro, from light heavy to heavyweight.
Olympic boxing has turned into game of tag.

  11. the WBO has become one of the better organizations. Wlad holds that belt now and the fighters give credibility to the title. A title is a championship. Not the lineal title which is held by Wlad now. The HBO guys always say that Vitali has 1/4 of the heavyweight championship because he has the WBC belt and Wlad has the WBA.IBF and the WBO which was held by Briggs. Anyway,Briggs was the lineal champ with his controversial win over Foreman.
