    How about Bert Cooper?

Apparently fought Holyfield on a days notice, he got asked and responded 'he had nothing better to do'

And what a fight he gave Evander.

Brilliant shout. Think he was 3rd choice opponent (that's what the commentators said). Damiani was 2nd choice, he pulled out and Bert stepped in. What a fight it was and all.

    Yeah I've read Holyfield's book.

Damiani was signed and in the States and asked to see Holyfield spar.

Took one look and left the gym.... never to return

Wayne Alexander didnt win but he perfomed well aganst Harry Simon with 24hrs notice

  5. Good one. Robinson was somewhat of a journeyman and took the fight at 48 hours notice. It turned him into a star in Wales and made him some money. I remember watching him live on ITV a few saturday nights defending the title. Shame for him that Naz came along and spoiled the party.
