    First fight
TYSON GRIFFIN VS. TAKANORI GOMI win

Flash knockout after one minute. as usual I was left with the feeling that the outcome of the fight was mostly random luck. No chance to enjoy the skill of the athletes because it's over before it's begun basically.

JOHN HOWARD VS. JAKE ELLENBERGER win

Jake Ellenberger's constant clinching and taking things to the ground sucked any entertainment out of this fight. The highlight being a grotesque injury to his opponent John. Which was thought to be a broken eye socket. Fight to stopped midway through the third. Very boring fight

MARK MUNOZ VS. YUSHIN OKAMI win

This was the best fight of the night which isn't saying much, both fighters were evenly matched, there was still a lot of spoiling and ground game but a fair amount of stand up as well. None of the fighters striking techniques looked very committed or skilful. It never looks good when both fighters am missing each other in virtually every punch they throw. ended in a very unremarkable split decision

JON JONES win VS. VLADIMIR MATYUSHENKO
Another tiresome over before it began flash victory by Jon Jones.

No disrespect to the fighters intended, they and us are getting *&%ed by the rules of MMA. Has there ever been a sport where you get to see so little of your favourite fighters skill? Or the outcome of the fight is so random?

:huh I think you might be getting Ellenberger and Howard mixed up. Ellenberger = White dude, Howard = Black dude.

You don't enjoy MMA do you. I don't think Gomi's shot was lucky. He caught Griffin open with a tight shot to the jaw. That is what he trains to do day in and day out. A lucky shot is some insane haymaker where the fighter is closing his eyes or something. Tarver vs Jones II is a bit of a lucky shot not this.

Ellenberger was overcoming his shortfalls to do what he had to do to win but you don't like wrestling.

Okami neutralised Munoz other than the big shot. Okami should have let the guns go a bit more in search of a stoppage. Maybe he was playing it safe as Munoz has heart and is tough.

Jones is dominating guys like Vera too. No doubt he is being stalled now. They have to hold him back from a title shot as they got a little fun with Rampage, Evans, Machida, Rua and then you got Griffin, Lil Nog etc Too many guys.

I'm not saying you are doing this, but it's very tempting and enjoyable to view fighting from a human and emotional perspective.

What you said in your post is true. someone trains hard, their techniques work, they win the fight. But it's not the whole picture.

When the fists fly there is a significant random element. Boxing deals with this by having large gloves which have more of a bludgeoning effect than a shattering one. So those few random lucky blows are largely smoothed out.

This is absolutely obvious by looking at the results of fights. Can you imagine what would happen if boxers use the tiny MMA gloves

that was insanely stupid that moron cecil peoples scored the fight for munoz. mark munoz got outclassed big time. cant they fire bad judges, is dana whites authoritarian rule good for nothing?

tell dana white to fire cecil before he fires anderson for winning fights, but not remembering his highest priority, entertaining the fans.

I hate incompetent judges in any sport. JUST BLEED

Judges are hired by the commission, and Dana has no say in the matter. Same goes for the refs.

I thought it was an alright card before i was thinking it would be a great one with so many close fights but just like every sport on paper rarely turns out the way it should. The Jones fight was the only one i was expecting to be disappointed about as it was more when would he finish him soon as it was made.

The Gomi shot was no way a fluke he had feinted the same punch a few times before it landed. Nothing Lucky about it imo.

Not as much fireworks as i had hoped for but a watchable card. I was glad to see Ellenberger win of course it was ugly but howard has good hands in MMA and you don't want them landing on you. Ellenberger showed how to do that.

hey I know your right It is the commision that decides I wonder what kept John McCarthy from the ufc? I guess he was back for the jones vs matyushenko fight on VS.

Im sure dana can pay some people and get that cicil "blind man" peoples to go away.

I wonder how people will feel if dana fires anderson silva if he beats sonnen by a boring decision. if I was anderson I would taunt sonnen play around dance like micheal jackson then win a lopsided decision and get fired. After that he could (not under ufc contract) fight roy jones in a boxing match.

Anderson Silva the P4p #1 mma fighter if victorious would have a 12 fight winning streak and 7 successful title defenses but would be stripped of his title for being "boring".:yep

A week later dana would proclaim that its moronic to call anderson silva the P4P #1 fighter because hes "BORING". I laugh.:patsch:yep

Yes, and look at how much better the sport is now, right? :patsch

Bigger gloves lead to increased brain damage.

As I understand it, McCarthy is no longer a licensed ref in Nevada, which is the UFC's home base. He is though licensed in California so he was able to work the last UFC show, which was held in San Diego.
