exactly. which may be why he didn't "catch on" like other contemporaries did. He wasn't exceptionally fast or strong, didn't have a lot of one punch KO power. he just did everyone right and as you said, by the book.

it wasn't his athleticism that gave him a career but purely technique

Carlos Ortiz and Joe Frazier weren't naturally gifted. They got so far on the basis of skill, will and utter dedication.

He was fantastically ripped. Ergo, he was athletic.

Nicolai Valuev doesn't seem particularly athletic. Hard to picture him turning cartwheels...though Boxed Ears can probably create photos of him doing just that.

I thought he was fast and a pretty good hitter. I dont see how you can peep this and call him unathletic in any sense.

good clip and good point. he certainly wasn't unathletic. i was more thinking did his skills far outweigh his physical talents? even if they did, he was still a hell of an athlete

I hate to say it, but it's one of my boys I'm afraid.

    The answer is Saensak Muangsurin.

The evidence? Just watch him

It's no doubt hard to measure in boxing. It's not quite like other sports were athletic ability is so obvious.

I guess a lack of speed and coordination would be the best idea of this in boxing terms.
