need a bit of advice as I'm have a slight issue when I throw my left hook.

I box in a orthodox stance and broke my wrist when I was 13. My trainer wants me to do it with my palm facing down, but sometimes I end up, I think, throwing it with the palm facing me. I think it must be a mental thing in a way to protect my wrist because it hurts slightly when I do land it correctly.

yesterday I put on a wrist wrap and then my hand wraps, seemed better but there was still that element there.

Also worried that I may end up pulling the shot.

Technically your prob less likely to hurt the wrist in the palm downward position as the elbow and wrist are in line. I throw palm in.

You didn't actually ask anything so what exactly are you looking for advice on?
How you should throw it? If you should wear wrist wraps? Somethin else?

well to help put strength in it, or throw it in a way that doesn't hurt.

Try repeating it over and over correctly with the proper wrap without fear. If it hurts too much to throw it that way, tell your coach you prefer the other way because of your injury.

    Wow. Nice advice.

Throw the punch how you feel comfortable, there's no real difference in power, speed etc between palm facing you and palm down.

Noo I didn't mean like, u can stick it under a moving truck and it'll be fine lol, I meant don't worry about it being weak as long as youve given it sufficient healing time which I'm sure he had if he's in the gym training.

I hate palm down. Did Joe Frazier use 'palm down?' No. Nor did many other great left hookers. There is a place for that technique but it'll come naturally as you get used to dealing with different angles. For the most part, 'palm facing you' flows much, much easier.

Freddy Roach aslo says to throw it with your palm facing down. I thing to consider as well is your elbow. You run less risk of injuring your elbow when throwing it palm down. I have the tendency to have the palm facing me. I feel like I generate more power and I'm not left too open.

It feels natural to me to throw it palm down.

Just practice it the way your coach tells you. Make sure you wrap up properly.

Is there a lot of pain? Or is it more the mental aspect?

If you're throwing them fast and landing, then I wouldn't worry too much about it, it's quite a fine detail. If your coach is only pulling you up about that then you must be doing pretty well
