Can we have a modern fight debated in a classic section without being moved?

GGG vs. Canelo is arguably the biggest middleweight fight in years. Maybe the last ten years, as such I think asking the panel what type of legacy the winner will have is a good question.

My take is whoever wins it will have a significant accomplishment, and one retired fighter might also get a boost.

If GGG wins, he is linear / Ring Magazine and will have beaten a 27-year-old top-ranked opponent at age 36, which is historically rare. He will also extend his consecutive title world title defense record past Hopkins and could retire undefeated if he chooses to do so.

If Canelo wins, he will have answered questions about the first fight with plenty of boxing left in him.

The legacy boost for that retired fighter? That would be Mayweather who's win over Canelo looks better with each passing year. If Canelo wins, he does too.

Taylor, Pavlik and Cotto weren`t as good as Canelo or GGG.

None of their fights were this big either. I think this is the most important middle weight fight in the past ten years. A fair statement.

If HerolGee can inform us of a bigger middle weight fight in the past ten years, we can all read it here. A problem with modern boxing is there if too much dislike for many modern fighters, so posters like him go out of their way to troll or discredit, even before an event happens. If you must troll, be an informed and educated one. This is a big time fight.

I think it's a fair enough comment to make.

Some argue GGG has already surpassed Hopkins due to the NC. But that's a technicality.

I think its probably Golovkin's most important fight, and he needs to win clearly to not only get the Canelo scalp (which will only improve with age imho) but also to demonstrate without question that he can handle a slippery, fast counterpuncher of elite calibre.

He's been trying to rile Canelo up for months now, and I think he's hoping Ginger will stand and trade.

I don't think he will, he's going to be faster and more elusive than ever.

you are the one spoiling it and you dont even know it, I'm defending 3G.

The worst 3G fans are the ones who pick on their fellow fans because of their insecurities. Dont be insecure! it makes u look do weak, and I as a real 3G fan dont need to be associated with that.

The answer being - 3G canelo 1 was bigger because it involved more titles and to our knowledge clean athletes. Fight 2 is something now tainted.

Good point about handling a defensive counter puncher in terms of legacy.

I think GGG will do better this time. Its simple, beat him in the middle of the ring with the jab. Don't take the bait if he's on the ropes waiting for a counter. Simply jab at a distance and wait for him to come out. Fans ,ight boo, this will only lure Canleo out as he's not out jabbing GGG. Trade if possible anytime off the ropes. I don't think Canelo will be as big and strong this time around, and he looks much smaller on HBO's lead up to the fight.

I think Golovkin really needs to plug some to the body right up the centre of mass. Last fight Canelo was using extreme body sway to avoid his sides getting worked and causing Golovkins shots to virtually skitter off his back. Aiming for the solar plexus will mitigate that to some extent.

If Canelo's there late rounds GGG will have to find another gear. I foresee more Byrd type scores if it goes the distance.

Can someone give me subtitles to translate the above? Herolgee is posing as a GGG fan ( which is a joke ) , not owing up to the fact that this is a big fight, ( Which is something GGG or Canleo fans agree on ). If he was a GGG fans, he could at least agree with that.

If anything the first fight was the tainted one, thanks to one judges scoring and a failed drug test in the aftermath. Boxing can't afford a repeat on the re-match. The judges who were picked are solid with no BS calls.

na mate 3G-Can 1 was bigger. Now we have the issue of drugs AND fewer titles at stake.

dont be simple to try and cover up your error in forgetting the first fight which had more titles riding on it and no taint of drugs.

you picked a fight with another 3G fan because of your own insecurities, and you've failed to apologise when you were found to be wrong.

You should be backing me up as a 3G fan not trying to pretend you are right.

You might be a rare case of being able to fool the man in the mirror. But the rest of us know who you are. Enough already, comment boxing or skip this thread.

yeh i knew you'd fall back and that one when oyu were found wanting.

same ol mendy. Canelo-3G 1 was bigger -

    primer 3G not older one
    untainted by PEDs

and most importantly, since Canelo-3G 2 hasnt even happened yet, it remains the bigger of the two until part 2 happens to be bigger.

come back when u are ready to admit you are wrong instead of trying to pretend that I'm a GGG hater when I was CLEARLY and BLATANTLY supporting 3G himself.

I'm not sure how to judge the winner/loser. It will depend on the manner of the contest. If both guys box/fight excellent then they will both get credit.

After a year out with all the controversy, what version of Canelo turns up? A physiologically affected fighter who has lost his way? The same version as before? Or an improved, mature boxer with better conditioning? If so GGG has problems. Canelo has the tools to win, no question.

Which GGG turns up? Better question may be when will he officially get old and decline? What did the last Canelo fight plus the two training camps (Vanes) do to him? Or will he be more determined than ever? With improvement? If so Canelo is in for a long night..... maybe even a short one.

Let's hope for a great fight with no controversy.

I will make my judgement after the drama show.
