What if he had won the kostya tszyu fight? What if he didn't start a riot during the Mayweather fight? What if Miguel didn't him in the balls twice? I'm just saying referee Jay Nady ruins fights, he over-officiated the Tony Holyfield fight, he got rid of John Ruiz whole inside game during the Roy Jones fight, I know that he was doing the stanky leg dance but what if a nady had let it continue? Also he was winning the Mayweather fight what if he didn't throw the low blow? And finally what if he had tightened up his focus and actually stayed in the game versus Cotto instead of letting his mental focus drift? Too many asterisks, but would he be an all-time great? Your thoughts.
What if he was someone else? Dunno. The fighter we got was just okay. He was explosive so he faded early. Not particularly skilled or gifted. If it continued against Kostya he would have got knocked out sooner or later. Everyone won some rounds against Floyd. I remember losing money betting on Judah against Cotto. I was betting on Cotto’s chin failing, not on anything special about Zab. Zab wasn’t a creative fighter, he was straight forward and predictable. All time great? If he was more focused he could have been a legit title holder. ATG? Lololol no
I was never a fan of either fighter. But when Roger Mayweather ran in the ring with the round still in progress and tried to attack Zab Judah ... that's a disqualification EVERY time. Except THAT time. Mayweather wasn't DQed and the announcers didn't bring it up. They just said Roger was kicked out. If a corner enters the ring during a round, their fighter is disqualified EVERYWHERE. If a cornerman enters the ring and GOES AFTER HIS FIGHTER'S OPPONENT DURING THE ROUND ... the fight is over. Just not in Mayweather-Judah. I've never heard a reasonable answer for why this BASIC rule in boxing was not followed that night. The corner can't enter the ring during the round and attack his fighter's opponent. EVER. Except that night it was not only allowed ... nobody from the boxing commission, to the sanctioning body, to the broadcast team brought it up.
Zab was too mentally fragile, he simply never could've done what you're saying. After getting cracked once by Kostya, had the fight continued he was gonna get stopped. Floyd figured Zab out, which is why Zab's good effort turned off. And he was never gonna win a fight of wills vs. Cotto. Plus add on Baldomir, showing he was actually mentally less focused than Khan etc............nah. He was never gonna get close to an ATG. I can't name a mentally fragile ATG. Disclaimer: I'm a Zab fan
Judah was a fighter that I used to admire the talent of He was one of those fighters I felt could possibly beat anyone on a given night I think if he and Tsyzu fought 10 times, think Zab would win the majority of times. Just my opinion He could blow hot and cold but I felt he was an intimidating fighter and a handful for anyone when he was on fire In answer to your questions - I think if Zab had of beaten Kostya. I guess he would possibly have made a defence or two and moved up Mayweather - Floyd is absolutely amazing as a boxer and I think Floyd would have still won a decision I always felt that Floyd never got the respect I felt it deserved for facing Judah when he didn't really have to Cotto was also a great fighter. I think he might have got Judah mentally at the right time and weight when he fought him with Judah coming off some losses and Cotto still undefeated Who knows how it would have gone if they fought as undefeated lwws? Both great fighters. A big fan of both Nady - I think due to Zab falling after getting up, that it was probably right to stop the fight. Nobody wants to see someone get hurt but I think if it had have gone on that Zab would have been fine to continue in the next round, boxed cautiously and won a wide decision Only my opinion and not worth anything but I thought Zab was excellent in his prime
I know people like to give Zab a hard time but he was very talented fighter. He had all the physical gifts just not all the mental gifts to be an ATG. That doesn't take anything away from some great performances. Sometimes we have stop acting like if your not an ATG your just some bum. He was a really good fighter and a champion. Not that many boxers can say that.
The only answer was the blatant foul committed by Judah negated the rule. But yeah, any other time a DQ would be in order.
A foul doesn't negate the rule. Every time someone gets punched low or with a rabbit punch the cornerman doesn't get to run into the ring during the round and attack the guy who fouled. That might make fights more interesting, but that's ridiculous.
