    Which was Larry's greatest win, dyou think?
    I think for me, it's got to be the title winning one, against Kenny Norton.
    Norton really wanted to hold on to that belt and Fought brilliantly.
    Holmes proved his greatness, he took an arm injury in to the fight but still got a split decision win.

    I’ve always agreed that Norton was his best win. The victory over Ken had the right combination of all important qualities.

    1. It was the capturing of a world title
    2. It was a great battle
    3. It was against an opponent of high status who despite being past his best was still very much alive and quite possibly the best in the world at the time

    Cooney, I'd say. Given the amount of pressure from the publicity and the tensions it spawned, it took a special kind of focus to not only win but perform brilliantly. He did just that. Cooney fought pretty well too, but Holmes was masterful.

    The Cooney win is certainly among Holmes’ best and while I personally rate Norton as his #1 I can see arguments for the former.

    Yes he did. For all his faults, Cooney put a great effort in.
    Larry had to fight like hell at times.

    First Mike Weaver fight was very good, for excitement at least.

    Ocasio might have been him at his peak, or Shavers 1.

    Shavers 1 -- surprised everyone here. The first fight where he put it all together.
    Norton -- fought brilliantly against an awkward slickster.
    Shavers 2 -- great showcase of the survival instincts and recovery ability that saved his ass multiple times.
    Cooney -- I don't list this for his win (I mean, do great white hopes ever win?), I list it more for the final outcome of the two men becoming lifelong friends after dealing with a great white hope situation.
    Mercer -- his 70's Ali moment.
