The LeonMcS totally sober (Booo!) Fenech Fight review

5.00pm Stuck home with the flu so decide to be productive and help out the Pomgolians stinking up the forum over the last few days and give them the LeonMcS treatment with an exclusive round by round of the main event and random musings as the night progresses. All feedback & contributions welcome. Card starts in half an hour.

5.02pm Wonder how well this will go down with me sober. A new experience for us all methinks.

 

5.04PM Remember I've hired some dvds for the night, oh well, thats why they invented DVD shrink. On the menu tonight, The Darjeeling Limited, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, Zodiac (seen but need to watch again) & Being John Malkovich, a classic thats slipped through the cracks viewing wise. Also if I was to be using utorrent right now I would be downloading The Wire series 4 and The Happening. Luckily though I'm not, right?

Yeah, its a big night in at the Casa del LeonMcS Ranchero.

5.08PM Is it just me or is that big kiwi on the Dominos ad (Manny Toppings) just a little bit freaky? Wonder if I shouldn't have just one little drink to help me along...

 

5.10PM First fight of the night...Umaga comes down the ramp to...****, I'm still on Smackdown, 19 minutes to go.

1.Steve Wills vs Leon Maratas 4 rnds
2.Steve Casserley vs Damian Lawler 6 rnds
3.Billy Dib vs Rey Anton Olarte 8 rnds
4.Rob Medley vs Ade Alfons 6 rnds
5.Frank La Porto vs Peter Mitrevski Jnr 10 rnds Aust title.
6.Daniel Geale(18-9, 12Kos) vs Geard Ajetovic(16-1-1, 8Kos) IBO Middleweight Title 12 rounds

 

A little suprised Bill Dib is on so early in the card. Angelo Hyder on selling the card. Sam Soliman in the crowd. First fight about to start, Lightweight, Steve Wills vs Leon Maratas 4 rnds.

 

5.38PM Wills enters the ring straight from central casting of Romper Stomper. Does not look happy, but then again, this is a boxing match, might be worried if he entered throwing roses to the crowd or cracking jokes.

5.40PM 1st round; Both fighting southpaw. Wills score a kd with a jab as Maratas falls with 40 sec left in round. Scrappy but willing, was close till the kd. 10-8 Wills.

 

2nd round; Wills not using his 15cm reach advantage, content in close. Cut on Wills face, maybe right eye. Close round, argument for either. I'll go Wills, 10-9.

 

3rd; Nich shoulder by Willsy. SW cops a few but lands the better, just staying on LMs chest and smothering him. Wills 10-9, 30-26 overall, last round coming up.

 

Final round; Fenech bagging Mundine, hes late by my estimate...more of the same. LM loses mouthguard 1 min to go. Both throwing lots but missing just as many. Wills finishes stronger, 10-9, 40-35 on my card. Judges have it 40-35 x3, Wills ud.

 

Mines tea, white with two.

 

Next up, Steve Casserley vs Damian Lawler 6 rnds, Lt Middle. Pro debut for Lawler.

Round 1; SC whilst green, looks alright, finding a home for his right. DL keeps coming forward, 100+am bouts I think I heard. SC sharper, 10-9.

 

Round 2; Slower round but SC finishes quicker, if he lands that right properly look out, DL slips at end of round, no kd. 10-9 SC, 20-18.
