I think Makabu is going to wreck him but Bellew does have a very good left hook so he definitely has a puncher's chance.

Dos Santos (the guy in the first video) had never been stopped before then and he'd mixed in decent company too: Issa Akberbayev, Micki Nielsen and Dmytro Kucher the later of whom lost a close and very competitive decision to Makabu. The only guy to stop Dos Santos since then is Kudryashov who is an absolutely savage puncher. Kudryashov also got him out of there in 5.

Bellew also stopped the durable Ivica Bacurin who had only failed to last the full route twice before, one of them being against the aforementioned Kudryashov. Bacurin lasted the full 10 against big hitting Murat Gassiev, although he was down a number of times as he was against both Bellew and Kudryashov.

With the exception of Cleverly and possibly tricky journeyman Arturs Kulikauskis (only saw a bit of the fight), Bellew has hurt everyone he's fought at CW.

Problem for Bellew is his chin. Makabu is a vicious puncher with both hands and highly skilled. Makabu is by far the biggest hitter and most talented guy Bellew will have fought up at CW. Cleverly isn't a natural CW and the difference between his power and Makabu's is night and day.

Bellew was badly hurt by a shot Valery Brudov. Brudov isn't even a big CW (he weighed 192ΒΌ in that fight) but he had Bellew in all sorts of trouble from a single right hand. And who knows what would've happened had Bellew not been given time to clear his head after Brudov landed that ''low blow'' that landed on the belt line.

I don't even rate Bellew highly but he does ''carry powaaah!'' in that left hook of his. That said, I'll be very surprised if he even manages to last the distance let alone actually win. Makabu is a beast.

  2. Bellew probably hit harder than the guy with 3 KO's, 7 wins and 10 losses who stopped Makabu in 30 seconds. Plus Bellew has 25lbs more weight behind that chin than when in with Stevenson.

Will you be throwing him under the bus with everyone else if he doesn't win, like I've noticed has happened to Barroso? Who apparently hits harder than Derry Mathews who stopped Crolla yet Barroso couldn't.

  3. Serge, have you noticed that the people 'in the know' at Sky Sports and Matchroom really hype a title fight if they genuinely think that their man, when he is the underdog is going to win (and they do), but kind of brush it under the carpet when they don't and give it no hype.

Examples would be Brook-Porter, Crolla's fights with Barroso & Perez, Baker-Geale, DeGale-Dirrell, Froch-Bute was really hyped up on Sky.

When the powers that be aren't feeling it would be S.Smith-Pedraza, Cleverly-Fonafara, Andrade-Rose, P.Smith-Ward, Purdy-Alexander, Rees-Broner, Burns-Crawford, Stevenson-Bellew even Ward-Froch. If you only watch Sky Sports News, you barely knew those fights was happening.

Something tells me that the people in Bellew's camp (and Dave Coldwell is as astute a guy as there is in boxing) that are studying Makabu inside out are really thinking this is Bellew's night.

And from what I've watched of Makabu, I'm not seeing this unstoppable beast everyone is hyping. He's good, and may win. But a mismatch? Not a chance.

Makabu will most likely stop him if hits him with an uppercut late on but if bellews is really on his bike he might squeek a decision

  5. Mchunu was outboxing him with his jab, who is reknown for his glass chin and it took Makabu until 11 to land something big there.

Bellew has 4 inches in height on Mchunu, and a longer reach, with an good jab himself so it's not out of the realms of possibilty. However what nobody seems to what to take into account- what if Bellew lands on Makabu's chin?

Makabu's been stopped by a bum in 30 seconds and the footage I watched of Makabu seems like he doesn't much like pressure. Bellew by stoppage is a very real possibilty too, as much as his detractors want to say otherwise and "his glass chin" might well be the reason these people who are wrting Bellew off throw Makabu under the bus.

"Mchunu...who is reknown for his glass chin" You clearly have no idea what you're talking about, it took Mwekassa 6 rounds to TKO him, Mwekassa also happens to be a KO artist, in case you're not aware Mchunu is probably one of the best pure Boxers in the Cruiserweight division, far far far beter than Bellew, he's defensively Mayweather like, and he also holds wins over Heavyweight Eddie Chambers, who he made look buffoonish and outboxed him with ease, he stopped Venter quicker than Makabu and Usyk and he also dropped and boxed circles around Durodola who stopped Kudryashov and gave Briedis hell for a few rounds, both of who whom would decapitate Bellew.

I agree with what you say, Definetly mchunu beats anythg bellew has done at any weight, my only fear is he might freeze under the occasion and if it goes to the scorecards which probably won't the judges could cook up a SD and none would care coz makabu is not a big name globally

Uh oh....Makabu better be scared now, Bellew just got the endorsement of Sly:lol:

  9. Watch the fights, don't rely on boxrec stats. Mchunu is noting like Mayweather. If anything he's an abysmal version of Erislandy Lara. You act like Bellew has a glass chin who's only been knocked out while killing himself to make weight against Adonis Stevenson- whom, you might not need boxrec to know, punches quite hard.

I'll tell you what, if Makabu doesn't walk through Bellew and blast him out with ease, like you say he's going to do, report here on Sunday and admit YDKSAB. I don't want to hear any crybaby excuses like a saw when Crolla beat Barroso.

Although I can envisage it now. Bellew's on drugs, Makabu was paid to take a dive, poor stoppage, robbery (if Bellew wins on points, although according to you the judges won't be needed, so the excuse will be null and void).
