How long do you Brits think it will be before you see an era like that ever again? You think it will happen in your lifetime? Did you actually appreciate it while it was going on? Sure, you've had the massively popular Hatton, and the wonderful Iron Froch, but Lewis and Calzaghe were more than ATGs - they were arguably the GOATs in their respective divisions
Never.. There is only one Lewis and Calzaghe. Calzaghe's level of skill, talent and IQ comes once every hundred years.
it was a lewis era. there was no calzaghe era. calzaghe was content defending a worthless title on Lewis's by then shot2shyte victim's undercards as his peak achievement until Kessler. Calzaghe era started when he beat Kessler, and lasted basically the 45 minutes of that fight, he didn't defend his unified era status and ran to another division for easy pickings vs 40somethings. The SMW era of British boxing that you refer to is the eubank-watson-benn tripartite.
This content is protected 46 fights he was unbeaten and I know that strikes chord. This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected Glory, glory Joe Calzaghe! Glory, glory Joe Calzaghe! Glory, glory Joe Calzaghe! This content is protected :hi:
The great Joe Calzaghe went across the Atlantic, through the Appalachian Mountains, across the Great Plains, over the Rocky Mountains and into the desert to take the fight to the man known as "The Alien"... I don't think Joe was afraid of flying... In fact I think others were afraid of him.
they were afraid of him flying, yeh? and joe didn't want them to be afraid so he didn't fly...so thas what joe meant by declaring a fear of flying. welcome to planet Calturd.

There was no Slappy Joe era. I didn't hear of him till his unification fight with an inured Kessler. The SMW division of the 90's, now that was a great British era. I can't really count Lewis as British seeing as how he's Canadian and represented Canada in the Olympics twice.
