I followed the light heavy division back then fairly closely and wish we saw more of the best fighting the best. In fact we rarely saw it at all. Would have been great to see Virgil Hill, Prince Charles Williams, Michael Moorer and Jeff Harding fight each other to unify. Maybe Hearns could have challenged the last man standing. He did after all beat Virgil pretty soundly.

I would have loved if Moorer stayed at 175 and fought RJJ. What a treat that would be.

I would have loved to see that fight too. Don’t think Michael could have stayed at 175 that long though.

Moorer was on a crazy caloric restriction to stay at LHW. Add to that his natural maturity and the thought of him staying at 175 until 1996 was beyond remote. I won't comment on his consumption of Wendy's.

Yeah, it’s really hard to see Moorer lasting that long at that weight. He probably would have lost to some other guy well before 96’, his performance compromised by making weight.

Exactly how good he was at 175 is a question mark to me anyway. He had a great record, but it was against very modest opposition. I wasn’t overly impressed with him when he beat Leslie Stewart, his most notable win at the division.

He may have been great at the weight, but he’s unproven to me.
