The big fights would be out there for him after Tsypko too. If Tsypko beats Andrade, it is not at all obvious that he wouldn't beat Bute too.
look bute has USA tv companies interested in him and they don't really care about the belts, if he wins the fights the most important thing will happen massive pay days for bute, with canadian and usa tv dollars and 20 000 plus paying gate, image the pay days this kid will get if he stats beating the like of Kessler, taylor, ward, pavlik. it will many millions.
Good for Bute but not good for boxing. You always have to fight your mandatory before unifying, especially if you haven't fought one for almost a year. This is your duty to "the sport".
I'm not sure I agree. I think we should look at this on a case to case basis. Calzaghe skipping his mandatory to fight Peter Manfredo was bad for boxing. Bute skipping his mandatory to fight Taylor/Kessler is good for boxing.
Well, Maxime...he could do both...fight Tsypko and then fight Taylor/Kessler...they're not retiring anyway, are they... We're arguing principles here, of course, because Tsypko is not that likely to beat Andrade anyway, but still...why not... With Diaconu, I felt the same: Dawson could have fought him as well as Tarver, not just Tarver instead of Diaconu. Or, to put it another way, if we were all big fans of Tsypko, and very frustrated that he had been robbed against Lacy, etc., would we say: yeah, it's good for boxing that Bute, this big star with the world at his feet, is dodging our guy? No...we'd say: Our guy beat Lacy and beat Andrade more clearly than Bute, and we think he could beat Bute too...but Bute is dodging him because he's a bad risk/reward...and we'd compare it with the Diaconu/Dawson situation... ...sorry, Maxime, I know what you mean, but I have to stick to my principles here...:good
Looks like there are two interviews in the link I posted earlier. One for tv and one on the radio. Here is the direct link. http://www.radio-canada.ca/audio-vi.../SportsExtra/WebSport200903160000_m.asx&pos=0
That's an audio link. The previous one, with the article, was video. Good 14 mins interview with Larouche and Bute, this one. Bute's French is better than I was giving him credit for too...it's improving!:happy The gist is that they're ready for anyone and waiting for Showtime to call the shots and ultimately, they'll go with the big money for a possible unification fight. It's all wait and see for now. Thanks, Maxime.
Bute interview upon arriving in Romania: ''Zuniga's manager asked at the press conference for a neutral referee or a different one from my last fight. It wasn't even in question it would be the same ref, from my point of view they could have brought a ref from Columbia, the final result would have been the same.We had an american who did his job ok. Before the fight there were all sorts of speculations.I already forgotten all that happened in the Andrade fight and only think about the future. In the Zuniga fight Iwas concentrated only at what I was suppose to do.I didn't have problems before or during the fight. There will be another optional defense in june but the opponent or place haven't been set yet. There are plenty of fighters now who want to fight me for the belt. That makes me happy. It's nice fighters from America with good names and all want to fight me. I didn't get to talk to Andrade after the (Zuniga)fight.I knew he was there and I heard he said he was impressed with me.I have a few friends who told him he will be next. Andrade will have a title eliminator on april 4th in Montreal vs Vitali Tsypko.I will be rooting for Andrade and hopefully we will settle the score in the fall.I want everybody to see I deserve to hold the belt. In Canada I am very appreciated, people know boxing and it shows.Very many people come to my fights.Even the people from the United States has good words for me and I was happy. This motivates me to go even further. I miss my parents.I will spend this 2 week vacation with my family, then I will return to Montreal to restart training.I will try to spend as much time as I can with my family, try to rest and maybe even train a little. The fight being in june I have to be 100%. It's not Zuniga who did me in,but a bad flu. After the fight,2-3 days I stayed only at home.I got to celebrate, saturday with friends and colleagues, and then I went to bed.It was a good fight and the strategy me and my trainer had payed off.I made Zuniga look bad,he really is a good fighter, known in America,22 wins with 19 KOs.He is a good fighter. I said many times I want to fight in Romania but it doesn't depend on me.If the right finnancial support is found from the authorities and Interbox can reach an agreement we will do it.''
Bika turns down a fight with Pascal.
