Yeah, but we know that Showtime liked Bika as a potential opponent, and we know Bika wants this fight...and we know that he doesn't have another chance to fight for a title any time soon...no?:think (And we also know that Miranda never mentioned Bute after his tune-up, and neither did Pantera2000...they're gunning for either Froch (if Froch loses) or Ward next...) ...and by elimination from the Top 15 IBF list...right, Maxime?:think
Thank you for clarifying this. I didn't know. But what happens with the strap? if he wins, he gets it no?
He gets it, but I'm not sure if Bute puts it around his waist or lifts it up...I think he just puts it to the side and puts the IBF belt around his waist. I hope he'd do that anyway...:!: ...it's just a prize...there are no mandatories that come with it...the IBO is not a sanctioning body, per se...
4 sanctioning bodies is enough, if not too much already. Let's not create a fifth one to add one more champion...
We can make fun of the IBO all we want. But they have a pretty decent list of champions. Wladimir Klitschko Chad Dwason Sakio Bika Ricky Hatton
Yeah, but they didn't become great in becoming IBO champs...(i.e. the IBO put up their belt when they fought a big fight they were going to fight anyway)...and since these fighters never had to fight the best ever again to keep the IBO belt (no mandatories)...it's just a prize... I, Decebal, could decide to gift the winning fighter of all the biggest fights in each division the "Decebal World Championship" belt, and then the best fighters in the world would all be "Decebal" World Champions...but so what?...I couldn't then force them to fight mandatories...and I couldn't force them to fight the best of the rest, because I'm not a proper and recognised sanctioning body...same goes for the IBO...:conf
But more then that, the fact that those sanctioning bodies are multiplying isn't good for the sport. More champions is less clarity about who's the best in a division.
Green could also get done quickly. Reportedly DiBella has had it up to his eyeballs with Green, so he'd probably be willing to commit to something relatively quickly. On the other hand, I suspect DiBella will just keep Green in his back pocket so he can threaten to have Taylor fight Green in order to increase Taylor's leverage at the negotiating table.
Reports in the Canadian press suggest there is a very strong likelyhood of Bute taking on Allan Green in a voluntary defence in Quebec City in early July. Diaconu v. Pascal is going to be announced for the 19th of June, at Bell Centre.:good
