Bute is undefeated, but Froch, Kessler, Pavlik, Abraham, Dirrell, and maybe even Taylor would also be undefeated against Bute's oposition.

One thing is for sure; the Super Six is a mess, and it probably stopped more good fights than it made. I think Bute is probably the real deal, but I don't think he can "prove" much until the tourney is over. Even then he will be fighting guys who left the S6 because they lost, or they were damaged. The only exception would be the tourney winner. Showtime has options on the winner, and that will make it hard for an HBO fighter to do business.

A Pavlik fight is not a great option right now either. Pavlik's reputation and name value are at an all time low. Bute would not get much credit for a win, and a loss would be disastrous. The best case scenario for a Pavlik fight would be for Kelly to rematch and beat Martinez before he fights Bute, but if KP did that, he may want to go for another title run at 160 rather than move up. In addition, it is by no means a given that Bute could beat a version of Pavlik who is fresh off a win over Martinez.

Bute is pretty well screwed right now. Showtime made a major mistake when the excluded him from the S6. I'd probably make him the favorite.

I agree that right now, we could have better fights if the super 6 would not be there. Johnson-Green and Ward-Bika are not super fights. I can't wait for Froch-Abraham though.

Nobody never brought the proof that Showtime has an option on the super 6 fighters. Jean Bédard, from Interbox, said once that he talked to a super 6 fighter promoter and that he understood that Showtime had the right to equal any offer from another TV network. That's not an option. I'm waiting for a real information on that subject for many months now.

I think you missed IBox team opinion on that.

Bute won`t fight soon above his current category>

The point if you want, is the declaration of Larouche: you ca`nt rise the purse all the time (that implies that if you want it, it`s wiser to stay as much as you can unbeaten).Of course, for us, the fans, boring matches is not an option.Though...

So, let`s see their reasoning. If you`re beaten by Pascal or Dawson, even outside of category you can`t have the same pretentions as unbeaten in a match with a probably unbeaten Ward.

Bute has a huge market value right now and that can rise dramatically.

Bute`s almost 31 and in four years from now on he can have the right time to fight six big names at least.

Since when Brinkley match was optional and not mandatory to compare it with a Hopkins fight?

God damn, Decebal.. I always liked your posts, but you're surprising me here. You're letting yourself be objective, even to fighters you admire. And being objective, one can see Lucian Bute dictates subpar opposition on home turf, nothing more, nothing less.

You know, the best thing about Bute being in the S6 is that we'll actually see him in Fight Camp 360.:happy
