Not true. I like Bute. He has an charismatic presence in the ring, he is photogenic and looks good on camera, and he draws the crowds. In short Bute is good for boxing. Risking a knockout against Berrio was completely stupid and may well have wrecked his career.

Oh, how reassuring! I am glad!:good

I think you hit it right on the button when you pointed out that "risking a knockout against Berrio was completely stupid and may well have wrecked his career" - and here's the thing - I think he looked bad, timid and disjointed precisely because he didn't want to risk being KOed. Bute is very disciplined and sticks to the gameplan and is in there to win, even if it means sacrificing the style. I think in the long run this is the right policy because it will get him better fights which will test him more and he will end up having to give of his very best to compete in them...By 2009 everyone will expect him to fight Kessler; if he had been KDed by Berrio, even if he had survived it and won, there would be many questions hanging over him and he wouldn't have the same appeal, I feel.

Not much chance. They are on different career paths which won't converge for another couple of years. The promoters are clever enough to know the stupidity of a premature fight when they see one.

Indeed...won't happen for at least 2 years, before they want to cash in on them.

Pascal will now fight Omar Pittman (15-3-1 8KOs) while Miranda will fight David Banks (15-3-1 2KOs) since, according to boxing scene and ESB, Donny McCary pulled off the fight with Miranda which was the right thing to do since he had nothing to do in a ring with Edison Miranda.

EBU supermiddle champ Cristian Sanavia and Danilo Haussler will do it again at a date to be announced. The two drew controversially in Basle December 8. Sauerland Event promotes both.

    :huh

Does this mean Sanavia will NOT face Bute?

I think that they would rather fight Bute for a belt then fight each other...

What is going on with the Bute fight? InterBox planned to release the name of his opponent by the 13th of December. It was going to be Sanavia, I'm sure. But after that draw, his rating hasn't increased; Sanavia is thinking of fighting Haussler again - I cannot see why...

So InterBox were probably left in the lurch...any news? Any rumours?

    What is going on?

    Maxime?

    tuna?

Interbox never announce an opponent unless the contracts are signed and approved by the boxing commission.

Also, there was a huge drugs scandal in baseball in North America late last week and it was all over the news here in Montreal. I doubt they would choose that moment to announce the opponent. They would get very little air time.

We'll probably get news this week.

Looks like it won't be Zuniga either.

    [FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif] Oral-Zuniga IBF eliminator!
Promoters Ahmet Öner and Alfredo Marchio have agreed to co-promote an IBF middleweight elimination bout between #15 Mahir "The Lion" Oral (21-1-2, 8 KOs) and #10 Fulgencio Zuniga (20-2-1, 17 KOs) in Hamburg in February 2008. The winner will automatically be ranked in the vacant #1 spot. "That's the chance I have been waiting for," said Oral. "I've been working hard to make my way into the ratings. Now I can show everybody that I got what it takes to go all the way to the top. I will beat Zuniga and go on to dethrone 'King Arthur' Abraham." After his latest victory against Murat Mahmudov in July, Mahir has had to undergo surgery on his right hand twice. "The last couple of months have been the hardest time of my life," continued Oral. "Especially as I felt that I was on the best way to the top of my game after beating Spada. Now I have only been running for weeks unable to use my right hand in training. On the other hand I have never been that fired up in my whole career. I start preparing for Zuniga right now to make sure that I'll be in the shape of my life in February."

So if it isn't Sanavia, Haussler or Zuniga. Who is it gonna be? :)

So with Sanavia and Haussler out. (They will fight each other again).

This leaves Hanshaw and Joppy. Hopefully Jean-Paul Mendy is on the list too. Gogiya might be on it too since he is pretty much the only other guy in the IBF top15 who's available.
