Allan Green is fighting Rubin Williams so i don't think he'll be ready for February.

ESPN would let him off the hook for a title fight especially if that fight is on ESPN. ;)

It's the Holidays. It does suck tho. No tv shows on tv. No boxing news. Nothing. :(

Hopefully we'll get some news in about a week.

In my opinion the two leading available opponents are Sam Soliman and William Joppy.

Soliman his ranked 11th at 160lbs. He finished 3rd in this season of The Contender. He has fought guys like Eastman, Joval (x2), Mundine (x2) and Bika (x2) and Wright.

Joppy is a 3 time world champion. He defended his title successfully 6 times. He fought guys like Hopkins, Taylor, Trinidad and Eastman.

Both of them would be an easy first title defense for Bute. But both of them are decent name in the USA. If I had to choose between those two guys I'd pick Soliman. He still has a decent name and he has fought on US tv quite a few times in the last 2-3 years against guys like Joval (Fox), Ornelas (Showtime), Wright (HBO) and Bika (ESPN2).

Most importantly I think ESPN would accept to broadcast the fight since Soliman was part of The Contender 3. Giving Bute some US exposure before his fight with Andrade this summer.

    So Bute-Soliman it is! :deal

With Andrade against Brian Vera on the undercard!

    Bute-Soliman
    Andrade-Vera

Setting up Bute-Andrade for May 10th on HBO.

Soliman? Hmmm...isn't he that guy who used to be good and then he started losing and then he became shot? He was awful in the Contender. He also lost to the man Bute beat - Bika.... :think

What about Hanshaw. He is a big name in the US and is better for Bute's career then Soliman.
