Just heard from an inside source that Pascal said that the only way he'll loose is if Bute catches him with a hard counter. He also said, he knows he has a very hard punch, and especially in the form of a counter.

With this said, I think Pascal will fight a more civil fight, but when **** hits the fan he might slip up and swing wild bombs then the possibility of a strong counter exists.

If this is set up to be a trilogy, then these might be Bute's last couple of fights.

    3 weeks to the fight.

Why have some prominent betting companies suspended betting on this fight? SkyBet and totesport, for example...

Are they expecting a fixed result? There was talk from the very beginning about a trilogy... which is not a good sign if one wants a fair fight/result.

IMO, if anyone is more likely to be gifted a decision here, it is Bute.

Thoughts? A loss would hurt his career more than Pascal's, right now.

Well when they signed for the fight originally ealry this year they did mention they had a trilogy contrasct if it's 1-1 after 2 fights.

It's basically a way top cash out.

This fight happening in may 2013 is still 2 years to late for me.January 2014 is obviouslt even more lateter than it should be.

Yeah that sounds fishy to me to. Earlier this month, Pascal was saying that he has a revenge fight(WTF, they haven't fought yet!) against Bute when asked if he was interested in fighting Stevenson after the Bute fight. And to say they want a trilogy when not a single punch has been thrown yet is strange.

If any fight could be fixed, it would be this one because they are both from MONTREAL lol. Sorry to say, mobster run. Both teams know each other well and so on....

    We'll see if it's fixed on Jan.18th.

Another odd thing I heard was from Pascal's latest vid... he mentiones he doesn't think he can knock Bute out because Bute is such a quick/good fighter. Kinda of an odd statement if you ask me.

If Pascal is anything like he used to be, he'll knock Bute out.

LOL, Bute has always been a hype that only the nationalistic fools would fall for. How long has it been now since Froch knocked his block off, and who has he fought since? Amazing how a chump like Bute can eran millions of dollars with no skills and no notable wins.

I guess Ward was a fool, since he didn't take that easy fight which would have given him a big payday.

I might have been because Bute beat Bika in a more brilliant fashion than Ward did it himself. What hyped Ward was his win against Calslappy leftover (leftover who beat Froch). Those two wins makes Ward p4p #2...

Both Ward and Froch were saying Bute was leggit early on in their tournament. Kessler ducked Bute, Pavlik did also, both fools.

Bute got shaken early on in the Froch' fight and he never recovered, and that gives a point to all haters. But that doesn't mean they are right saying Bute was only a hypejob.

You're an idiot, the true nationalistic fools on this forum are the Russians. Lucien Bute is a class act, it doesn't say anything that he lost against Froch. He's one of the most respected boxers in the history of Canada. He comes from Roumania. And even before when he didn't hold dual citizenship was hugely loved. I wish him to win against Pascal, then to take the revenge against Carl Froch. I just want a serious opponent for Ward. Trust me Bute ain't easy to Andre. Oh, if he manages to beat Jean, before The Cobra a perfect opponent would be Golovkin.

A true fan keeps supporting his favourite fighter, even if he loses. Bute may not win against a certain type of elite but that doesn't make him a hype and a mediocre boxer. That's a childish way of apprehending life.

I still have big issues about Bute but they are the consequences of his fight against Froch. Is Bute's brain still able to absorb punches? Is Bute still abel to be confident? If yes is the answer to both questions, he should win against Pascal.

People saying Bute has no chin forget he never went down against Froch, despite receiving a good amount of bombs. In fact, the punition he took may have caused more damages than a single KO punch.

    I agree, laffie.

I have my money on Pascal by mid-rounds stoppage. Bute can win a decision on the cards if the fight goes 12, if he doesn't get knocked down more than once, but Pascal can win the decision too.

What I want to see more than a Bute win is a fair fight with no controversy, that is not spoilt by accidents, refereeing or judging.

If Bute gets stopped, I think he should retire.

Worst case scenario for me is: Pascal beats Bute up in first few rounds, gets a knockdown, Bute manages to beat the bell and then Pascal is pulled out in the corner because of a shoulder injury.

A controversy in this fight/bad blood would sell even more tickets for the rematch, especially if Bute gets the win on paper in the first fight.

Don't want that, but boxing is a business and the promoters and the boxing authorities have a stake in this turning into a trilogy and breaking record$ if possible. I however would rather have just one great fight with a clear result, even if Bute retires afterwards.

Same for me. I'm pretty sure it will be. It has to be, I'm going there with my son. I want him to live the feeling a big noisy crowd can make. We saw the Bute-Froch fight together in a sports bar, now it will be for real. Of course, we would see the action better on TV but the Bell Centre packed with noisy fans, half of them for one fighter and the other half for the other will produce an extraordinary energy. I'm even expecting some fans fighting in the crowd. We used to have that kind of local fights in Montreal before but they were only that: local fights. Now we are talking of 2 former world champions, maybe past their prime, but fighting for the right to be called the best in town. Well, they will also make big money!

For me, it would be a nice story if Bute manages to win. Redemption makes good stories. Even if he didn't go to the canvas against Froch, he went very down. He was still down against Grachev, a very bad fight, until the last round. The injury gave time to Bute to recover, physically and psychologically. If a successful return is possible, that is now and only now. If he manages to be a true fighter and win against Pascal, that will be an awesome accomplishment. I like good stories and I wish to live one in 2 weeks.

Hey, even if Pascal wins, it will be a good story. Only the end would be different. Life is winning some and losing some.
