I think he is aiming for Kessler... but he would like the fight to happen in early 2009, not right now.
Here is a wild speculation. I don't any inside infos. It's just a guess. Bute -vs- Karoly Balzsay on the undercard of Chagaev-Valuev on May 31th? I guess it's a stupid idea since Universum just dropped 4 millions on that heavyweight. They probably don't have much left for an undercard. :huh I don't know much about Balzsay other then he is a Universum fighter and that he is rated by the IBF. The date would also match InterBox's plans.
For the regulars: found this compilation of Bute and thought some of you might like it... [yt]fOdyTi8pbQU[/yt]
In the press conference before his departure for Montreal, Bute said his next fight, a (voluntary defence), might be on the 17th/18th of May. He thinks his fight against Andrade will be in October. No big cards on those dates in the USA or Germany/Denmark...only in Mexico... So...it looke like the fight will take place in Montreal. Balzsay was never going to be on the cards; he has still a while to go before they put him up against a title shot.
Word on the street is that Mundine and Winkys team have been in negotiations over the past few weeks for a fight around November. Mundine and RJJ have been doing some good sparring in the last few weeks.
Mundine and Winky?   You're kidding me, right? Why would Winky want to fight Choc?:huh ...and Choc sparring with RJJ? This I'd want to see! A bit like sparring your own shadow...     You're having me on, right, teke?:blood
No def not kidding, it is what i have heard from 2 other posters on diff forums...Team Winky think they will have Mundine as a warmup to a Pavlik fight :nono Its not the first time Mundine and RJJ have sparred each other either, lets not forget RJSnr use to train Mundine and still does on occasions.
I didn't know Choc was sparring with RJJ or was being trained by RJSnr... If Winky thinks it's a good idea to prepare for Pavlik by fighting Choc, he is mad! Not to mention - silly, since he'll most likely get beat!
It's common knowledge that Snr helped Mundine in lead up to Kessler fight and more so for the Green fight. I believe Mundine and Winky are talking but i dont believe the "preparation for Pavlik business". Mundine has always wanted a Winky fight and i even remember seeing Mundine and Winky in same picture taken before the 3rd Tarver/Jones fight.
I didn't know Choc was such a big name on the world stage that Winky would consider him a good risk/reward, given his [Choc's] skill and talent...:think Would this fight be at 160? Anyway, I'm very happy for Choc - this is a great fight for him. If he wins, as I expect he would, particularly at 168, this would do wonders for his career and would put him in the mix at the highest level!:happy
I dont think he is a big name on the world stage however ppl like Winky and Taylor do know he holds a title (even if it's paper) and that he has been beaten 3 times. Do some googling cause im sure something might pop up, go on ya little gossip queen. Mundine UD Bute :deal
