    On rds.ca.

A leg injury, so I guess he can't train for 6 weeks. Plus 2 months of preparation. Maybe Andrade will be his next opponent after all...

MONTREAL (Ticker) - IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute on Monday was diagnosed with a leg injury that will sideline him for six weeks.
The diagnosis was made by Dr. Jacques Toueg after Bute, who trains out of Montreal, complained of severe pain in his leg. The specifics of the injury were not disclosed.
“This is the type of injury where an athlete could cut his season short, or even end it,” Toueg said. “It is very risky to fight in such a state. A mandatory rest period is a necessity.”
Bute (22-0, 18 KOs) last fought on October 19, 2007 when he took the IBF super middleweight title from Alejandro Berrio with an 11th-round TKO.

Big blow, Maxime...sad times for Bute...but at least it shouldn't interfere with his mandatory defence.

Well if I remember correctly. It is an old injury that Bute had for years (Originally happened while playing soccer). You guys remember seeing him with a knee brace before his fight with Joppy? Well I guess that was it.

The injury got worst while doing sprints a few days ago. I'm not sure how to translate this so I'll just put it in french.

"Bute a les ligaments postérieurs du genou droit déchirés."

Larouche said that he would never let one of his boxer fight with a major injury again after witnessing Lucas lose to Danny Green a few years ago.

I found this great Canadian boxing site:

    http://www.corussports.com/boxe/

It has long interviews about Bute, with Larouche, etc.

Thanks for not telling me about this site, Maxime!:(
