Because they thought Joppy wasn't much of a challenge.

sport.ro is showing all the big boxing fights live right now, including Vitali v. Peter this Saturday, so why not the Bute fight?

ET

Article about Bute in the romanian paper Libertatea from today that I translated:

Three weeks are left until Lucian Bute's big fight in Montreal, when he will be facing Librado Andrade.A fight in which the Interbox fighter will be defending the IBF title. To prepare for this fight as good as he can Bute has 2 training sessions/day.The first one, based on the physical aspect and conditioning, and the second one on technique and tactics.
''I train 4 hours every day.I already have 3 sparring parteners from the US.They were choosen so their style can imitate Andrade's style.'' said Bute for Libertatea.Talking about his future opponent, the fighter originally from Galati says that he has an aggressive style, puts tremendous pressure on the opponent from the beggining and hits hard with both hands.
''He takes a lot of shots. He is very tough.I think I can surprise him on technique and speed. These would be his weak spots'',said the IBF champ.
About the weight:Till fight time Lucian must lose 7 kg(which is about 13 lbs if I'm not mistaken)
''Fighting with the scales is normal for me.It is one of the hardest moments for me before a fight. But I have learned to take it and go forward'' said Bute

    (((((((((((((GO BUTE))))))))))))

Thanks for the article and for taking time to translate it too, thunder. Same goes for the Diaconu article.:good

7 kgs (15.4 lbs) is a hell of a lot to lose in 15 days. A pound a day...damn! Bute's always doing this...

    No problem.
He is probably losing the weight like that so he wouldn't be drained for a few days just for a few hours, and then put most of it back

Last time around, he lost 5 kgs in 5 days, if I remember right...crazy! Cannot possibly be healthy.:-(

And how can you be drained for only a few hours without taking diuretics, etc? How much can you sweat out in a couple of hours, before the weigh-in? 3 lbs? Cannot be more, can it?

I'm saying that it's better to take a lot in the last second, stay a few minutes weak and then rehydrate then be on weight a few days before the fight and be weak all those days.

Sure, but is that possible, without taking stuff that will dehydrate you fast, which will be dangerous...?
