Nice avatar:rofl The promotion should start soon right?Like a week or so. I saw Zuniga was in Newark at Adamek vs Banks.
He gave a last interview on Friday the 20th, saying he would not be seen in public for the next two weeks. So, maybe next Friday. Happily for us, you and Decebal have sometimes some news from the Romanian press.
One of Bute's sparring partner for the fight. Saul Roman http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=125339&cat=boxer
A Mexican. Should be good. The best ranked of the four sparring partners he's had for the fight, if I remember well the others. Anyway, ranking is not everything in terms of sparring partners quality. Interbox says Bute will have over 100 rounds in training.
If you go to the Interbox site and click on Bute, you can read every couple of days a short summary of what he's up to...e.g.: Yesterday: "Entraînement physique terminé... ne reste que la stratégie avec mon entraîneur Stéphan Larouche" ...this is where you heard about Roman, right, Maxime?
Bute is now at 180 pounds, according to Interbox site. 12 pounds over the limit. Four days ago, he had 6 kgs (13,2 pounds) to lose. I would love to see an interview with Bute's nutritionnist on that subject. Of course, she won't talk before the fight. How many pounds can Bute lose easily in the last days before the weight-in? My guess is Lucian wants to be under 178 because according to the IBF rules, a boxer cannot be more than ten pounds heavier on fightday than he was at the weight-in. When you weight-drain yourself, it must be for a short period. After the weight-in, you want to regain all you lost before. So, the key is to go under 178 something like 5 days before the fight. It leaves 7 days to lose 2 more pounds. Sounds ok. Anyone has news about Zuniga? Booradley maybe?
He lost 5 kgs in 5 days last time...:-(...if he loses 1 pound/4 days...that means he'll have to lose 10 pounds in 5 days... again...
The Interbox site is getting real better, they put the english version in too. It's much better now. About the weight,I'm plased,at this point 180 is good for Lucian.
180 is great if he were to lose 1 pound/day for the next week or so...which is not that much...before losing the extra 5 pounds in the 3 remaining days...but this is not the way Bute plays it, unfortunately...:-(
Yap...it's a good thing he's not complaining...but I'm sure it does affect his performance. As far as I know, he's never had to lose as much as 5 kgs in 5 days before (like last time)...and I for one put his relative lack of strenght and stamina (all things considered, of course (ANDRADE!!!)) partly down to having to cut so much so fast.
I don't know exactly how weightdraining works in detail. If some boxers gain 12 pounds from the weight-in till the fight, that means they were weight-drained that much. I know that when you lose weight like this you'd better lose it for the smallest amount of time. But what is the maximum Bute can lose just before a fight without losing energy? I don't know. I'm sure it's over 5 pounds though. He only has to work out and not to drink to lose easily 5 pounds. I could do it. I think he can lose very easily 8 or 9 pounds in the last days and be ok. So, 180 maybe ok for now, if he loses 3 more pounds in the next week. Last time, it was 5 kgs 5 days before, that's 11 pounds. Three pounds may make a difference.
