Stupid thread. Devin “glass jawed, exposed lightweight” Haney may well become the undisputed lightweight champion in less than 2 months.

And Garcia has plenty flaws, but he got 12 solid rounds in against a cagey, tough opponent. He’s clearly a step below the rest as of now, still a prospect.

his jab was terrible. I think part of the problem is his foot work. Way too static. .....and not using feints.

Well... that might have something to do with Artur Beterbiev boxing for 21 years, almost as long as Ryan Garcia has been alive. Also, Browne is a bit of a glass jaw, it shouldn't have taken Beterbiev that long to get him out of there, or lose any rounds to him.

But yeah, clearly Garcia is far from perfect. But I've seen far more seasoned fighters look far worse against slick annoying spoilers who are there to survive. Personally I though he did an adequate job cutting the ring off. He did land 165 punches on him after all. He clearly needs to fix his issues, certainly Goosen is smart enough to notice the chin up and lack of jab, and will hammer that into his head. Although most people when they have to aggressively walk down an opponent tend to forget the jab to a degree.

Look, I get it, he's an annoying kid, with way too much hype behind him. But I highly doubt anyone else would be getting criticized for their gas tanks after throwing 565 vicious power shots putting everything they have into them for 12 rounds, running after a constantly moving pain in the ass target. Sure, he paced himself a little, didn't blow his load. But for a guy who rarely comes close to going the distance. He certainly wasn't hanging on for dear life, trying desperately just to survive. Which means his gas tank is decent.

Really? Tell me exactly who does look good against spoilers who come just to survive? Does Ward suck because he looked like **** against Brand? Does Kovalev suck because he looked like **** against Chilemba? Does Manny Pacquiao suck because he had a carbon copy of Tagoe in Clottey that he pounded on to no avail for 12 rounds straight? Does Joe Smith Jr suck, because Geffrard lasted as long as Eleider Alvarez? Now keep in mind, these are far more seasoned fighters.

Yeah sure.... Naoya was getting rounds in, but he was also landing massive power punches flush throughout. Dipaen was taking them surprisingly well. The man clearly has a solid set of whiskers. To say otherwise, denigrates Inoue's power.

Aside from an inch or two in height, they're roughly the same.

Also, Ryan Garcia isn't quite Inoue now is he? I'm comparing their opponents. If Inoue wasn't as accurate as he is, that would've gone the distance. Obviously Ryan isn't a finished product quite yet.

What's he even need an excuse for? He just won in dominant 120-107 fashion over an ugly style that most people look bad against. Yet for some reason, people are acting like something Haney, Lomachenko, Kambosos, JoJo Diaz and Linares do on a fairly regular basis, is somehow unacceptable. Very weird.

When he was FIFTEEN. You're just desperately reaching now. I guess Badou Jack and Manny Pacquiao have glass jaws too right? How about Vitali, he got KTFO kickboxing.

Not a fanboy... merely not an illogical elitist hater looking for a reason to assail a fighter due to his looks and popularity with casuals.

he is still the most naturally gifted of the bunch. he got too much into his own head. too focused on playing a character. i dont think he yet understands what it takes to be the guy hes pretending to be. if i was his handler i would make the fight with loma. he is still young enough that he can get away with losing to loma. and he would find out exactly what level he needs to be at, and what level hes at now.
he didnt look improved, but he still dominated the african. the potential is still there, he just hasnt put it all together. oscar should teach him how to bounce on his toes like he used to do, train some rhythm into him. also helps disguise his offence by always being in motion. makes him more difficult to time. i wasnt impressed with his lurching about. and that shoulder roll defense has got to go. he needs to be more about his business than about his image.

How is Loma one of the last guys standing if he got dropped by Linares and lost to Teo? Wouldn’t that make his chin even worse than Haney’s? Doesn’t losing mean he was already exposed according to your logic?

I don't always agree with the list master @CST80 but regarding Ryan Garcia and assessing his performance, he's spot on.

The way Ryan conserves his energy and is relaxed with his movement is the sign of an elite fighter. Canelo does that as well, only moving when they have to. Every fighter is fit enough, it’s just how they conserve their energy. Explosive fighters should be moving as little as possible. Beterbiev is the master of the sport at doing this.

The holding was bs, the ref should’ve done something about that.
