The Lions in the Camp are a bit quiet - what next for Anthony Yarde ?

Anyone any idea on what Anthony Yarde is doing next ? It's getting on 4 months since he was dominated (apart from one round) by Kov. and no sign of any next fight materialising.

I'm hoping he realises now that he's levels below world level and has loads of work to do to get anywhere near that level.

Yarde is a very limited boxer but he does have good stamina, strength, power and , based on the Pov fight, a good chin. So there's stuff to work with.

Would be good to see in him some domestic / proper euro (not euro cab driver) dust ups and take it from there.

I hope he takes a more sensible middle ground between world level and Hungarian cab driver level from now. but probably won't.

There was quite a bit of talk about how the Kovalev fight was a great opportunity for Yarde to get a big profile push even if he lost. That seemed to fizzle out and now it’s nearly Christmas and he’s pretty much just as much of an unknown as he was beforehand.

Can see why he needed time off after a grueling fight but it would have been good to have heard of him setting a fight date for the new year before xmas. Hopefully gets in the mix at british / european level now.

My point was that the fight seemed to slip by largely unnoticed and did nothing for his profile. That weekend was the same one where Ben Stokes won the third Ashes test for England, plus Man Utd and Spurs lost at home and Liverpool played Arsenal. Yarde was in what should have been a massive fight and it was a case of ‘this bloke you’ve never heard of is fighting in Russia.’ Very poor promotion.

    His profile was definitely raised.

I think a possible scenario is that Yarde may have moved on from Tunde, so is taking the rest of the year off and starting the new year with a big announcement.

Levels below? Na i thnk he showed he can at least cut it at that level, he may not be world level but showed he deserves to be in the mix. Certainly not levels below suggesting he had no business being in there?

Yarde also does not have good stamina, I would say that its one of the things he needs to improve on the most. After one round of attacking Yarde was completely gassed and was the reason he got dropped with a well timed but but not overly powerful shot from Kovalev.

He needs to work on his stamina big time a boy his age shouldnt be having problems like he did a lot of that I assume is down to how much muscle he has packed onto his frame. He needs to brush up on his footwork big time also and get used to being in there with guys who will land on him to calm him down and relax him which in turn will help with his stamina

I’m just not sure it really was raised. Not his fault but his big world title moment came on a weekend when your casual sporting audience were looking the other way.

I think BT getting the early Premier League game is a potential factor. This weekend Sky have the Manchester derby at half five which will be absolutely wall to wall Joshua adverts. Had BT had Liverpool Arsenal that day they could have done the same with Yarde but they were probably showing powerboating or something.

He would have taken a lot out of that Kovalev fight. His time will come again, he'll have to rebuild though obviously. Don't know if the much maligned Tunde is the man to carry on training him though.

1 or 2 comeback fights and go for british title, then European then fringe world leve opponents and so on....actually do it properly this time. I can’t see him splitting from Tunde at this stage this though

Dont think he has. My friend was at a party at Tunde's apartment on the weekend and Yarde was there and they are still together.

I saw him on yt a couple of wk ago, he said he'd been out tak8ng some rest and regrouping. He mentioned that he was starting get himself bk into the gym and should be back fully early 2020.
No mentioning of finding another trainer or anything but 8 suppose if heceas thinking of leaving tunde he would do it in a more acceptable manner as it does seem they are close buddy's as well.

Bang on, this. Yarde’s stamina was poor because he’s never had to adjust from his normal pedestrian pace with a jab getting pushed in his face all night. Tunde did not set him up right in terms of previous opponents. That said, he did well to hang in there, showed heart, showed he can hurt world level opponents. He has too much muscle mass for his frame though, needs to move his feet more and he needs to work on the jab rather than reverting to throwing a lead left hook.

I think under Tunde, the quality of opponents will be resumed as before to get him into a mandatory position again. A proper coach would work on his fundamentals and drop some muscle mass.
