He objectively had a bad gas tank. Was spent by round 9.

He objectively was about as green as a contender can be. 21 with like 14 professional outings.

I think theres a difference between noting reasons that contributed to him losing the fight, and just making excuses.

Making excuses is blaming a pinky toe, is saying your ringwalk suit was too heavy. Ect

Noting that Moses gassed out to the point he literally couldnt compose himself, before even reaching the championship rounds, isnt making an excuse, its noting a flaw of his that contributed to his loss. Saying he was too inexperienced isnt making an excuse, its noting the reality of his situation heading into this fight.

Hrgovic will be given a parade in Croatia and rightfully so. That nation has a lot of heart. They're a country of fighters.

Does he deserve one though? The way some of you are going on Hrgovic beat up a glass-jawed bum for a vacant title.

In all seriousness though, I think the win will age very well and that Hrgovic did a spectacular job. I also give Itauma a lot of props for his efforts and think he'll come back stronger.

    IDKSAB though lol

First thing I thought. That win will make Hrgovic look like a generational fighter on paper

Itauma flew too close to the sun.

Admirable work trying to break records and push boundaries but when it doesn't work.....

Itauma was the one who had been begging and pleading for this fight for months upon months though. The Warrens wanted him to "get some rounds in" (audaciously showing their disrespect for Hrgy), and Itauma and his team (and the whole British media, pundits, ex-Boxers, Eddie Hearn, blabla) thought Itauma would blitz him.

In the end it was Itauma who got lit up and ended up slumped over with his neck tilted to the side on the ropes and carried out on a stretcher, lol.

Most of those aren't excuses. They are just reasons. Saying he has a bad gas tank or a poor strategy are criticisms. I mean it's like saying having a glass chin is an excuse. No it's just literally a reason why a fighter loses.

If you can't discuss why a fighter lost then what's the point.

Upon rewatching that I have concerns as to whether he comes back an improved Itauma. He took a serious beating and the ref probably should have stopped it when Moses was wobbling like a tube man outside a car dealership. He shouldn’t have let Hrgovic at him after calling that last break. Moses was almost comatose on his feet.

Turns out when Usyk said Itauma was just a kid and not worthy yet, he was only being honest.
