Could Money run and slop for 36 Mins, potshotting and round stealing or would he get taxed by the ragamuffin man.. I strangely see the Honeyghan of this fight troubling most 147 Fighters.. Not necessarily winning but troubling

as much as I love Floyd, and we all know he was great, he won't survive a tiger like Lloyd. NO welter of the last 30 years could

I thought Honeyghan was great in that fight. Really great.
Mayweather never lost a fight though, so I don't know.

The Honeyghan who "surprised" DCurry would be a very difficult opponent for Floyd.

Mayweather would be pushed but he could win enough rounds. Don't forget that in the Curry fight, LLoyd was tagged quite often in the first 5 rounds. My point is that the speed of Curry was a factor something that FMJ possesses plus he was more consistent with his game plan unlike a Curry who could be derailed (in fights with McClallum, T Norris he went from being closely competitively to being stopped and it all over within the span of 2 rounds). The FMJ who fought Canelo would win but the older single potshot mover who fought Maidana would have a tough hard fight on his hands.

This is not a dig on Mayweather but he is one of the greatest spoliers in boxing. He knows how to slow the action by timing his offense, elbow to the throat, clinching and positioning his body on inside to stifle any opponent. Against the output of Honeyghan this will help him.

BTW an older Honeghan vs Starling had huge problems with fast accuate jab and and a smart high guard defense. And this was all before the facial damage to Lloyd. The first 5 rounds of that fight were awesome but the technique of Starling was showing despite all the output from Honeyghan. Floyd and Starling have many similar techniques.

Can't you see Floyd doing the "Moochie Stomp" to try to confuse Honeyghan?

    Mayweather by decision

Floyd would be busy, but coming straight in would allow Floyd plenty of counterpunching opportunities.

i stlll think while Honeyghan peformed well against Curry, something was not right with Curry that day, most likely was severly weight drained.

Honeyghan was so disciplined that night, he fought a helluva fight.
If he sustained that discipline he could have reigned for quite a while.
Instead he reverted back to his old sloppy self, which against top fighters like Starling gave him major problems.

Honeyghan didn't come straight in at Curry.
People need to re-watch that fight. First round Honeyghan has Curry figured naturally, just a matter of styles and skills. Honeyghan measured the distance and used head movement. He wasn't coming in until Curry started to back off. Curry did what he always did, coming forward, stalking with little movement. Honeyghan was just too fast and elusive for him.

    I agree. :good
He began to fight with too much arrogance, reckless brawling and swarming, relying on power too much. And if he'd still been at Brit/Euro level he might have got away with it, but at world level it was just a matter of time.

Me too. Honeyghan became very overrated based on the fight v Curry but he went on to get a close one v Blocker, lost to Vaca and otherwise beat a load of smaller washed up junkies (Bumphus, Hatcher). That was more his level. The performance vs Curry was not likely to be down to his hitting huge heights which he never hit again, rather than Curry not being right that night.

    Styles make fights.

Honeyghan probably would never have beat Starling.
Curry probably would never have beat Honeyghan.
Twice Starling didn't have what it took to beat Curry.

    No excuses.

Honeygham fought an amazing fight that night .. I don't know if something was wrong w Curry or not but going into the fight he was being rated as the number one fighter p4p in the world and Lloyd whipped his ass ... that Lloyd was too big, fast , strong and hard hitting for Floyd and would out hustle him for a decision .. Floyd is an amazing fighter but not an amazing welterweight ..
