The logic for floyd to duck the $40 million

No disrespect Chris mate, but if Floyd does "Swerve" Manny then Mayweather is flat out "Ducking/swerving" Pacquiao!! As for him trying to cash in by fighting lesser fighters before they meet, that to is also "Swerving" and it would prove a distinct lack of confidence by Mayweather! After all, were he to beat Manny any fight he was involved in after their fight would make "Money Mayweather" far more $$$$s than were he to fight the same guys having NOT fought Pac-man!! I, like almost all fight fans I sincerely hope that no "Swerve" takes place! Imo Floyd would win the fight, which would make any "Duck" by him unfathomable, barring the obvious reason that he does not fancy the job! All this drug-testing furore is bollocks anyway and it does have more than a whiff of "Smokescreen" about it! Question, if it is true, and Floyd does swerve Manny how will Mayweather, this hugely talented but egotistical fighter be remembered? He came back out of "Retirement" demanding a fight with Manny and proclaiming that he is #1 p4p (And I believe he is, up to now!) and if he did "Swerve" Manny his reputation/legacy could be in tatters!! Let's hope it is not true and they fight, as arranged, which I believe they will.

If they only agreed to terms there would technically be no contract since a contract is a legally binding agreement. And since the fight is not at this time finalized, what would they be legally bound to ???

Signing a contract is the final step of negotiations. See the 3 words in the previous sentence ? Signing, contract, final = Finalize. It is basically the last thing you do, hence the word final. The english language shouldn't be this hard for adults.
