I was just posted in a mythical matchup between Hamed and Rigo and it occurred to me that Hamed went down in fights because he had terrible footwork but actually a good chin; OTOH Rigo has some of the best footwork in the game but goes down because his chin is terrible. I'm not sure he gets KTFO (he seems to always get back up when knocked down) here but I bet he goes down once or twice. If that happens, he isn't winning the fight because Rigo simply doesn't throw enough punches. He will probably go into survival mode if he gets hurt against Loma. I think you're right, I don't think Rigo is going to go out on his shield in this fight, even if he is far behind.

 

That's why I don't get where this Rigo titoesque power comes from. Dude can punch and his left cross is picture perfect, sharp and has great snaps on it but it's more technique than raw power.
I think Loma handle that handily come Saturday.

Donaire was a dead man walking in that fight and was badly disfigured. Two choices here go down or facial reconstruction. rigo is not a finisher it seems he prefers to deal more punshiment.

For me it basically comes down to size, age and activity that will make the difference here. These guys are both great, both technically supreme, both southpaws, both powerful...
I was reading the Ring fight picks, and a lot came to the same conclusions one way or the other, making it 17-2 in Loma's favor mostly because of that.
It's still a great fight overall, with two of the greatest amateurs ever, 2 technical marvells and 2 of the best P4Pers at the time getting ready for battle!

I think Loma is a heavy favourite and I'd be amazed if he doesn't win.

If Rigo somehow does win he'll be avoided into retirement.

Loma is just some next level sheeeet.

 

Great read. The size difference will actually have a huge role to play though. Rigo is one of the very few who do actually walk around at fighting weight

People say Rigo has a reach advantage, but just about everyone Loma's fought had a longer reach than him.

They say Rigo might be too fast for Loma, but Loma's fought Russell, who's faster than Rigo.
