I feel like mentally he is finished

But at the same time it’s clear he still has some potential if he can learn to love it again (far easier said then done). He nearly knocked Walters down in the second with one clean left hook, he clearly has tons of power, and excellent hand speed and accuracy. I think if he drops back to 122 he could enjoy more success.

Nah, he goes back down to 122, and Rigo beats him worse than he did the first time, especially now that he's mentally shot. Only safe route for him is the exit doors from boxing.

He can still be competitive at 122 but should avoid Rigo. He can try to gain confidence fighting lower ranked contenders. But if he really is not mentally there, he should retire.

But when Walters said Donaire could be his sparring partner in training camp in the future was funny as hell.

His career isn't over. He can rematch this guy and probably win.

But his dad isn't the right trainer for him at this weight. He was fighting in a style which seems to have diminished his power in favor of his boxing.

He's getting older. He probably should fight at the weight he is at or even move up.

But why is his dad training him now? I think he looked better and then the switch to his dad training him and he gets knocked out?

I think he's got everything it takes to go up in weight and win titles all the way up to 140 but to do it he has to want to do it. I also think he can beat Walters in a rematch. Donaire didn't look the best we've ever seen him so Walters really beat Donaire at his worst.

Eventually every great fighter who moves up in weight fighting at the championship level loses a fight. Floyd is an exception. Pacquiao has lost fights many times so lets not act like Donaire is finished when Pacquiao lost fights himself.

Donaire should grab another title at this weight and rematch Walters in a unification or just go straight for a rematch against him. They could have a rivalry which could be good for boxing and for both of their careers. People saying Donaire should retire are being ridiculous because he's in his physical prime and didn't look bad against Walters.

    Walters landed a good punch.
