Am I correct in thinking that if the majority of the glove is on the waistband, it's kosher? If so, it was a clean shot no?
Hopkins claimed that the punch dislodged his gonads form the cup which is entirely believable and would require a short respite to tuck yourself back in, he probably took longer on purpose to grab a breather.
I'm not denying that it hurt nor that Hopkins milked it, I was just wondering about teh letter of the law (I'm going to the US tomorrow and will need to know!)
Wouldn't it be easier to 'tuck yourself back in' if you weren't rolling around on the floor and crying at the time?
The referee will first rule if the waistband is at the right height, then sometimes allow punches on it, sometimes not.
He took full advantage of the situation and tried the low blow acting twice. It is a desperate man who resorts to cheating to try and win.
I gave him the benefit of the doubt, it didn't look like a hurtful shot but the slightest glance in the nuts can really, really hurt as we all know. So I never say 'that didn't hurt' in those circumstances. It can be deceptive. However when he tried it on again and I couldn't see any evidence of a low blow at all, it became clear that he was trying to get points docked and was, quite simply, cheating. Now the dust has settled, Hopkins antics are becoming more and more distasteful to me, personally. Oh - and nah, it wasn't a legal punch IMO, it was barely a punch but it was low. It was an accidental low blow I guess.
correct and tryin 2 play mind games that back fired,he should retire now before he makes a fool of himself
Well he has been fooling the public and the likes of HBO for years and after the JC fight made a fool of himself by claiming he schooled him etc.
Thats what I thought. He'd had the 10-8 in the first round, another point off Calzaghe would have made the fight pretty close.
