This content is protected Little Inoki aka Lyoto "The Dragon" Machida KO'd Rashad Evans this past weekend at UFC 98. With that we enter a new era in the UFC light heavyweight division because it is entirely possible that there is no one in the division that can beat Machida at this point. I officially take back everything bad I ever said about Machida being boring. I have always been on the fence with Lyoto - enjoying some of his performances and feeling lethargic through others. After this weekend - I am officially on the Machida bandwagon and want to see this guy fight everyone in the world. I know this is looking too far ahead - but Machida vs Brock Lesnar anyone? Machiidaa! :bbb I was a fan the first time I saw him fight in the UFC. I looked for his pre-UFC fights on youtube soon after. Even back when he was disliked for having a boring style, I still was entertained watching his matches and never thought he was boring.
I really think that Lesnar and Carwin are too big for Machida. Really too big. Lesnar would put an end on him and would probably GnP him to a decision easily. I really don't see Machida knock him out and pot shot his victory for 5 round vs Lesnar. Machida won't be able to throw Lesnar around like he did with Ortiz.
Not sure if Machida can handle the size up at heavy. Brock is a monster who would run after Machida and look to enforce his size.
Come on now. Machida is awesome, and I like him a lot. But now people want to throw him in with a heavyweight wrestler? I don't think so. Brock Lesnar could take down even Mr. Elusive.
Machida is the next wave of MMA fighters, anyone who matches him up with guys like Rampage and Shogun thinking that they are in the same level offensively and defensively are just plain ******ed. These guys have been left behind, this is how MMA works FFS. Royce, Ken and Coleman gave way to Hughes and Wand who then gave way to BJ and GSP. And then theres an anomaly like Fedor and advanced fighters like, Lyoto and Silva who are in a league of their own. After that there are guys like Lesnar, Mossaui, Jon Jones, JDS, Ishii who rides the coattails but are part of the Silva/Machida wave. But Yes MAchida will most likely have a hard time against a Lesnar, but who is Lesnar, hes also a part of this new breed of fighters and a bigger one at that.. I must say, had Lesnar started at MMA 10 years ago hed be the greatest MMA fighter ever no doubt.
Machida will have the belt for a Long time and still ha yet to lose a round in the UFC..The Machida Era has begun
Machida is my favorite fighter ad he has bee for some time but to say that he is going to reign for a long time is wishful thinking in this sport. He does seem to have the right metal makeup but this sport is unforgiving there is no standing 8 count.
I think Machida can hold this belt for a long time. As much as I like Rampage I doubt he will beat Machida, but he has a punchers chance. Don't ask me why but I feel if Shogun can get his act together he can pose some problems with Machida.
he needs to stay at light heavy as i feel heavy will be to much for him--but YES he will definetly do what anderson silva has done with the middleweights and dominate!!silva v machida would be special and possibly looking like 1 of the biggest fights ever(if it were to ever happen!)
i agree with that lesnar is something special!fedor v lesnar would be awsum aswell -even though alot of peoplw wouldnt give brock a chance
Machida has no business going up to the heavyweight division. Those guys are too big for him. I do think he can dominate the lt heavyweight division for a long time. But it wont be easy cuz there are a lot of challengers at 205. Rampage-should be a very good fight also Forrest-dont ever underestimate this guy.look what he did to shogun wanderlei silva-silva is always dangerous shogun rua-i think rua can give him the toughest fight liddell-liddell has KO power
