As I stated on another thread - I took revisited the Machida/Shogun fight to attempt to score it. In hindsight the fight plays out completely differently. In watching the fight live - I was just disappointed that Machida didn't KO Rua. in rewatching the fight - I realized that Machida was landing the cleaner punches, nearly as many leg kicks as Rua, and blocked or evaded the majority of Shogun's kicks. Lyoto scored knees every time Rua went for a clinch and kept the feet standing by preventing every take down attempted by Rua. I think this fight is the equivalent of an Ali/Frazier type styles contrast and career rivalry. Lyoto Machida won the fight by winning every round in a masterful performance against the former Pride champion.
