    ...nevermind. :sad2

Technically the Express wasn't yet off the rails, with there still being until November 21st of this year for Tua to somehow produce a miracle and achieve the dream in time.

    Moot point.

The old slugger retired this week, seven months after losing the rematch with Monte Barrett and looking decidedly finished as a fighter (despite scoring a last gasp knockdown of Barrett in the final minute of the 12th...)

It is an interesting choice, because the Tua family was reportedly in financial ruin and heavily indebted in back taxes heading into that rematch. Usually boxers in that position fight on past their best just to keep the paychecks rolling in.

Tua must really be sapped of self-confidence at this point. Hopefully he can find some honest way to make a modestly comfortable living off his name as a public speaker, boxing trainer, or TV analyst.

Funny how this monster from the awesome 90's couldnt even make the top 30 in this socalled weakest division in history! Tho he's younger than Vitali Klitschko today, and also younger than Foreman and Holmes when they won world titles in Tua's own era!

Right! I never liked him after he turned down a fight vs Wladimir.

Yes! What an ******* for not padding Wladimir's record with a big name scalp that he'd have barely had to break a sweat against, with the odds stacked RIDICULOUSLY in Klitschko's favor stylistically.

Tua had been Past-Prime since '99... if you'd followed his career, you'd have know that.

yes, how dare he not fight well past his prime against someone who will do the same thing to him Lennox Lewis did to him a DECADE earlier when he was in his prime.

Exactly. WK vs. Tua would have looked exactly like LL vs. Tua except it would have possibly ended in the only KO loss of Tua's career.

In terms of styles & dimensions that is the worst look Tua could have ever had at a world HW title, contrary what people think about the oversimplified arithmetic of "big puncher/good swarmer + weak chinned panic-prone robot = success!"

They are good points, but smaller fighters age faster, and Tua has taken some punishment in his fights with Rahmen, Ibeabucchi, etc.
