Has anyone seen this documentary about Malignaggi that is being shown on Sky. Was on last night and is being shown again today. Changed my view on Malignaggi. I have bit more respect for him now. I had only seen his last fight against Hermann whathisname, but I have probably underrated him a bit. Still think Hatton has got the beating of him.
I seen some of it last night - An obvious attempt by Sky to build up Hattons next opponent and increase interest. Very smart and I enjoyed what I saw alot. Unfortunatly I had stuff to do so I didn't catch it all so its cool that it's on again tonight. Ive seen PM take on Cotto and that guy that got robbed verus Castillo. Hatton certainly has the beating of him for my money.
Not saw it, Paulie seems a bit cocky but i guess it comes with the territory, he got all the necessaries like, skills and angles in abundance but he hasnt got the punch to keep Hatton off, gonna be a good blend of styles though if it comes off.
this is the sort of thing Hatton should be doing instead of another documentary about him playing darts. I think Mallignaggi will beat Hatton. When did PM fight castillo?
oh yeh i remember, yeh it was very close for Ngjodu vs Castillo and Malignaggi. I reckon JLC and PM won both by a few rounds though.
Herman Ngoudjo was robbed (apparently - I haven't seen it) against Castillo who was in turn blown away by Hatton. Herman Ngoudjo was also robbed (apparently - I haven't seen it) against Malignaggi. So guys, which was the worst robbery? I know this isn't an exact science at all, and proves nothing, but would give a reasonable indication of how good Paulie is. His career defining moments are the shut outs (counting saturday) against NDou, and the beating he took from Cotto. I personally don't think Paulie will have a chance against Hatton. He won't be able to run away all night long, and if he goes toe-to-toe he lacks the power to brawl and will be KO'd. I either see a mid round stoppage for Hatton, or a fairly wide UD 117-111 or similar. Please don't forget - judges seem to be going on aggression and workrate as opposed to footwork and skills. Clearly Hatton is much more aggressive and has a better workrate, whilst Malignaggi has decent skills.
I thought it was pretty weak, they had no "boxing" people commenting on anything, just his doctor who repaired his hand talking through some of his earlier fights - He didn't even know anything about the sport! And then it was just Lou DiBella and Malignaggi's team telling us how good he was. Shite. Malignaggi just came across like a bit of a ***** to me. He carried knives and got expelled when he took a gun to school  ... did he go a minute without saying something along the lines of "I'm like Yo whatta d'ya want?"... What was the point in it all??? At least we got to see Cotto training for a little while, and Paulie is lucky he got Cotto when he was struggling at 140... otherwise he wouldv'e looked a lot worse after the fight. :scaredas: BTW, one of my favourite Lou DiBella comments, pre Hatton-Tszyu... "Hatton looked like a bloated guy. There's no way in the world he wins. He'll give 110 percent, and if he was already in great shape, he could've given TSzyu a tought time. But now, no way. Hatton won't have enough skill and won't have enough in the tank. Tszyu by late-round KO" Love the guy, him a Malignaggi are equally stupid.
To be fair Sleaze, Di Bella will be at it again in an attempt to sell tickets. The more knowledgable Americans (if there is such a thing) think Hatton will eat Paulie alive, and I am inclined to agree.
He wasn't even Tszyu's promoter, he just said there was "no way" Hatton would win because he's stupid. I don't mind promoters hyping their guys, it's their job. But my problem with the program was that's all they had, Di Bella, Malignaggi and his friends... at least have a boxing guy just to tell it like it is for a little while.
i watched the first 30 mins of it before falling asleep was a god watch but a bit to late in the night for me. i have a bit more respect for paulie now but i still dont like people who run they mouth off all the time it just does not sit right with me
It's good for the promotion of the fight that there is a clearly defined 'good guy' (Hatton) and 'Bad Guy) (PM) It makes the fight easier to sell to the general public. It's a fantastic business move to have this documentary featured on British TV from all angles...I am happy with this fight as well btw. It is one of the 3 fights that I wanted Hatton to take before retirement.
Who was the worst robbery - Castillo or Paulie vs Ngoudjo? I don't think you need a good guy bad guy in a Hatton fight to be honest, people would turn up to watch him fighting Ivan Calderon!
